Field Notes 2

Image
I am so excited to share my projects today! Not only is Taylored Expressions releasing a new monthly kit, called Field Notes 2. But the stamp set was created by one of my dear friends Lori Craig. When you have a chance, head on over to the TE blog and Instagram to see all of the beautiful samples that have been created with this set. They are truly stunning. To start, the floral image was stamped in white pigment a few times to create a scene and then embossed with clear embossing powder. This gives the flowers a nice white lined outlined as well as a border when watercoloring. Having the embossed border helps tremendously especially when watercoloring, it keeps the color contained. Once the panel was colored in and dry. The sentiment was stamped in black ink in the corner with a MISTI tool. Stamping on watercolor paper can be tricky so using a stamp platform ensures that the ink can get into all the crevices of the textured paper. The panel was diecut, then layered onto a white...

Hello there friends! How are all of you doing? This has been not only the weirdest year, but such a strange summer as well. Since my children were little, we have always traveled and vacationed in the summer. So to have canceled trips is just a little sad.  Anyhow, I have a card to share with you today. The image on my card is from Big Acorn which is a new mini 2x3 stamp set from Lawn Fawn . I stamped the images with the Sugar Cookie ink, and then watercolored them. This technique is called no line watercoloring. Because, you cannot see the stamped detail of the images. The sentiment is from the Lets Go Nuts stamp set. Its a fall themed set with the cutest images.  Typically when I am watercoloring, I stick to Fabriano & Arches cold pressed watercolor paper. I just know I will get consistent results with both. To add a little bit of detail to the acorns, I used a white permanent pen and added some dots.  I love the summer months and warm weather. However, many o...

Happy Summer

Image
Hello there! I hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods! It has been thunder storming here off an on for over a week and I am ready for a full day of sun! This didn't come out as exactly how I saw it in my brain. But I still really like it, and had fun creating it, so thats all that matters. I used the Sunray, Double stitched rectangles, and Happy Summer line border die, from Lawn Fawn to create this card. To give the card added dimension I watercolored the background in a gradient way, having the darker coloring at the top, and lighter water blended card at the bottom.  Head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog to see more projects using the new Line Borders.

Blooming Hello

Image
Hello friends! Today Technique Tuesday is having a fun blog hop showcasing the June release.  I used the Blooming Branches stamp set, stamped it several times onto watercolor paper using a light tan/yellow ink. Then watercolored the images using Daniel Smith watercolor pigments. The "hello" sentiment was stamped in black ink onto watercolor paper and then adhered to the panel using foam adhesive.  Here is the complete blog list of all the designers showing off new stamps and dies Seeka Norine Borys Jung AhSang   Emily Leiphart  Kymona Tracey   Dana Kirby   Nathalie DeSousa   Amy Kolling   Ana Anderson   Latisha Yoast   (here) Natasha Kara   Allison Arbour   Sheree Forcier   Yasmin Diaz

Keep On Swimming

Image
This new stamp set called Keep on Swimming from Lawn Fawn , is a stamp set made to be used in conjunction with the reveal wheel die. However, the images and sentiments are perfect to use alone as well.  I knew I was going to paint the goldfish and orange tone, so the fake tan cardstock was an easy choice to pair with (the hearts were stamped in clear ink). The white panel is actually watercolor paper and the images are colored in using watercolor pigment inks.  Sometimes it is very hard to get a clear impression especially with sentiments when you stamp onto watercolor paper. But, when you use a stamping platform where you are able to stamp the same image or sentiment multiple times, perfectly, you will get that nice and even stamped image/sentiment. To tie the card together, I finished by adding trimmings to coordinate. Head on over to the Lawn Fawn Blog to see much more inspiration.

You're A Blessing

Hello friends! Fun stuff happening today!! Technique Tuesday is having a blog hop celebrating National Scrapbook Day this Saturday, and they are giving away free stamps and dies. At the bottom of the post will be instructions on how to claim them. I am slightly obsessed with the stamp set I used on my card. It is called Fresh Peonies from Technique Tuesday. It is so pretty, and even more beautiful when you color it in. I decided to watercolor the image (that I stamped several times), because I get depth and dimension using this coloring technique. Copics are my absolute favorite, but there is something special that happens when you watercolor this image. To see what all of the other designers are sharing today, head on over to their blogs! What Wood I Do

Image
Today I am sharing another card using the Beau & Beatrice Beaver stamp set from Technique Tuesday .  This time, I stamped the image onto watercolor, then created a cute and simple watercolored scene.  Just by adding grass and sky, the critter gets grounded, instead of floating around. Head on over to the Technique Tuesday blog , to see the other stamp sets being shown today!

Merry Christmas

Image
Is there anything better than watercolored poinsettias? Very few! They are just a prominent image that reminds me of Christmas. This is a brand new stamp set from Technique Tuesday . I am not even going to lie. It took a few days to color in this panel. I wanted each color to be completely dry before moving on to the next.  This isn't the kind of card where I wanted the colors to blend into each other. So I had to practice patience and take my time. It is really hard to photograph subtle sparkle.  The gold was watercolored with a gold sparkly Gansai gold, which is so glittery in person, it just doesn't show up on camera. However, the Wink Of Stella Clear glitter pen, kind of shows up along the border of the poinsettia blooms. This card was very intensive to color, but it was so relaxing! I love how it turned out! The front panel in Fabriano cold pressed watercolor paper, then the poinsettia was stamped multiple times using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  The...

Cuddle Weather

Happy Halloween to all of my American friends!  We are experiencing chilly weather here in Florida, so I guess I better go find a comfy sweater to wear later to hand out candy. For my card, the stamp set used is new from Technique Tuesday and its called Hello Winter.  It has a puffy jacket images, some snowflakes, tons of sentiments and it makes it so easy to create a super fun winter card, that isn't holiday related! I stamped the 3 images shown onto Fabriano cold pressed watercolor paper, with VersaFine Onyx black ink. I love this combination between ink and paper, and makes it really easy to watercolor on.  Once the panel was dry from watercoloring, I went in with a orange pen and created some dots. Then using a clear wink of Stella pen, adding sparkle to the images, sentiment as well as over the dots. Head on over to the Technique Tuesday Blog for a full reveal of this set!!

Merry Peppermint

A brand new stamp set called Christmas Cocoa is being released from Technique Tuesday in a few days.  Its a smaller sized stamp set, with so much value. This is a cocoa set, but if you like coffee like me, then its not hard to turn the mugs into coffee. For this card, I repeatedly stamped the cocoa mug onto Fabriano cold press watercolor paper, using Versafine black ink. Then again using one of the heart images. Once the ink was dry, the panel was watercolored with Daniel Smith watercolors.  The watercolored panel was adhered to the card base using foam adhesive to give the card depth. Then layered with a white diecut frame also adhered with foam adhesive.  The sentiment was stamped onto vellum with VersaFine onyx black ink, then heat set with a heat gun. The reason I heat set the image is because vellum is porous and the ink will feather out. To embellish twine was added above the sentiment for added interest. My Deepest Thanks

Image
Hello friends! Let me first say, watercoloring is not easy lol. I am on a mission to get better.  Since I have been using copic markers since 2005 (13 years) it is my go to way of coloring, its second nature.  So using watercolor as a medium where I feel I have less control has been a learning process for sure! With that said, todays project is a muted pastel water colored card.  The watercolor paper is from Arches, so its a nice thick paper, it also means it takes longer to dry.  So on one panel I created the background, then on the other I stamped the image and die.  I did not want a white edge along my girl diver, so I fussy cut along the edge of the stamped image. You cannot really tell from the photo, but the diver and the porthole diecut are adhered with foam adhesive giving the card a little more depth. Head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog, to see amazing project using new product as well as a chance to win the release!!

Let's Roll

Image
Hello friends! The next few days, I will be sharing projects from the Lawn Fawn summer release.  I am warning you now, you will want it all.  They are just so cute! The card above has a few new products on it.  A stamp set called Coaster Critters, and a die set called Bunting Borders.  If i see a banner stamp set, stickers or dies, I instantly need them.  Anyone else? They just add a nice festive touch to basically everything. So, I die cut water color paper with the Bunting die, then water colored each banner.  The roller coaster was stamped onto the front panel in permanent black ink, then the grass and sky were water colored.  The cart, critters and ticket booth were stamped onto water color paper, colored in, fussy cut out, then adhered with foam tape onto the card front.  The design team has made such great samples using this set, I encourage you to go check them out over on the Lawn Fawn blog.  There also is a huge giveaway! ...

Love Beyond Measure

Image
Hello friends!  I hope wherever you are visiting from today, that you are having a wonderful Sunday!  I am showing a sneak peek of a new stamp set called What A Guy from Technique Tuesday.  This set has really fun "tool" images and then sentiments that coordinate with the tool. Its very clever.   I was in a watercoloring mood before starting on this card. So for selfish reasons more than design reasons, I stamped the tape measure images multiple times, using VersaFine black ink.  This is a permanent black ink, that works perfect when watercoloring.  A grey/blue, deep blue and yellow/orange were the water color pigments that I chose to use.  This is a masculine card, so the colors help convey that theme. Head on over to the Technique Tuesday blog , to see the full reveal of this set!
