This week Joy challenged us to make a scrapbook page or card etc... something using a photo.  I really almost didn't do it this week, well because I still have more Christmas cards to make, but since I got my slice in the mail, I played along.  I used the distressed dots background stamp from Unity along with the dotted border from them as well.  I used white prism paper and MM patterned paper.  The letters were cut out with my Slice and the #7 is a foam black thicker.  If you decide to play along make sure to post your project in the Unity forum and in the gallery using the key word USC15.

So my son's birthday is coming up soon, so I'm feeling a little sad about him growing up.  I had a very difficult labor with him (we both almost died) and it was suggested that I never get pregnant again.  I am so happy with my two children, but somewhere deep down, I have never gotten over it not being my decision.  So I try to cherish all of my children's moments.  I know I'm really sappy, but I get like this around their birthdays.   A few weeks ago when we met Jess on base, Jacob took Jess aside and said "Dad, when I grow up I want to be just like you"  is that not the sweetest thing ever!  We have a really close relationship with our children, I hope that never changes.  Anyhow, I used white Prism paper as my base for the layout & then used some Making Memories NoteWorthy paper & die cuts for some color.  The little scalloped border is a Unity stamp that I got in my last kit of the month.  I used my stamp-a-majig to line it up perfectly. More cards from yesterday, which was World Card Making Day.  I had a lot of fun with the challenges & learned some new things too.  Today I plan on scrap booking again, I have soooo much to catch up on, its almost sickening to think about, but I am set on tackling all those photos. The other night I was on a paper hunt for a friend, and though I didn't find the paper she wanted, I did find some fun Halloween paper from Making Memories called Spellbound, plus most of the sheets are double sided, score!  I don't have too many Halloween stamps, so I used my Justrite stamper to make my own.  The alphabet is from the Curlz set and the border is from my original C45 kit.  I don't know if you can buy these in normal stores, but I bought mine at Flourishes I found the best deal on the ribbon, I got a whole spool of it (25 yards) for only $2.75!!!  I love this style of sheer riboon, its just like May Arts how it shimmers and how it ties pretty perfect bows. I am really loving the Noteworthy line of paper from Making Memories, I was planning on saving it for some of my scrap book layouts, because its so pretty but I  couldn't hold out anymore.  Plus to be completely honest, I am behind, way behind in my albums.   So anyhow, here is my card I used Julee's sketch for this.  There is 10 layers on this baby!  I don't think I have used this many layers before, but its really yummy in person.  This is definitely  a two or three stamp card >" "Just because" vintage cream & spring moss card stock from PaperTrey Ink, Notewothy designer paper from Making Memories, Verve Stamps, PTI spring moss twill, Tim Holtz black soot ink, dimmensionals

Do you ever make something, and you just feel so proud because its awesome lol, snort >" I first picked out the paper I wanted to use, so I grabbed some of this Noteworthy paper from MM, I love the shabby look of it.  The card base is vintage cream from PaperTrey Ink.  The stamping is pretty simple, the panel that has "Mr. & Mrs. Forever Love etc..." are images in, I *think* is Sweet Love from PTI and the main focal sentiment is in the stamp set Anniversary Birds from Verve.  To add to the shabby feeling of this card I added a few buttons and tied twine thru them, I add a glue dot to the bottom of the button, to make it stick to the paper, I don't sew it onto the paper.  Lastly the ribbon is very vanilla 5/8 in grosgrain ribbon by SU.  Oh to get your ribbon to run all the way around the card, I get an exacto knife and make a slit in the fold, thick enough for my ribbon to get through it.

I went to a scrapbook store yesterday and found this yummy paper made by Making Memories.  Isn't it delicious!  I had to have it, a layout came to me right there and then...don't you love it when that happens. The sentiment is a single stamp from Unity Stamps...if you like to stamp on your layouts, these stamps are for you because they are huge!  Anyhow, I distressed it a ton, and turned it into a tag, by adding twine to it.  The felt ribbon is from the Cosmo Cricket set I got from QVC a while back.  I think the buttons might be from MM too...but not sure.  I didn't have any flourishes that flowed with this page, so I doodled some myself with a black micron pen, added dots and then colored it in with a Copic marker. This picture was taken in Pensacola Beach, FL.  It was a such a fun day, my inlaws were visiting for my husbands winging & we just hung out on the beach and had an impromptu photo shoot.  I love being a Mom, is just so bittersweet watching your kids grow up....
