A rainbow Christmas scene is just pure smiles. I started by stamping the mountains, coloring them in, stamping and coloring the peas and then stenciling. I wanted all of my stamping and coloring done before adding glitter gel over the snowflakes.  For this card I used the Let It Shine Patterned Paper and the Poinsettia die set to create a layered poinsettia card. Using the patterned paper was perfect as it made the process so quick. No need to color anything in. This shaped card uses the Snowglobe Magic Iris Die add on. Hello friends! I have a few cards to share with you today using Picket Fence Studios stamps . I cannot believe its July and that Halloween and Christmas are just right around the corner. When social distancing started, I should have just put up my Christmas tree. Christmas is my favorite and makes me ridiculously happy. My family might have thought I was crazy, but its 2020, there are no rules this year.  So, for this first card using the Most Wonderful Time of the Year stamp set , it was created using oxide inks. I typically do not gravitate towards those inks, but trying new techniques is always an adventure. Oxide inks to me are very bold and striking, and are perfect for layering stamps.  I know some people only gravitate towards traditional Christmas colors, however its fun to expand your holiday color palette.  Last month I was in Kansas with a bunch of crafty friends, and I was able to complete a few cards for this Lawn Fawn Inspiration week!  Up first is a row of Winter Narwhals.  They each were stamped using the River Rock ink, and then colored in with colored pencils and gamsol.  The panel was blended using Distress Oxide inks, and then splattered with gold Kuretake watercolors. Each narwhal was adhered using foam adhesive. A double knotted twine bow was added for embellishment. Up next is the Sugar Cookie add-on stamp set. Each cookie was stamped in the new Sugar Cookie ink, then colored in using Daniel Smith Watercolors.  Glossy accents was placed on each cookie, then once dry hand cut. Hello friends! Making a shaped card is so much fun! I know it confuses a lot of people on how to make them, but it really is so easy. If shaped cards are not your thing, then you can always make tags, put the dies onto a card, or make a banner. Options are really limitless when it comes to using shaped dies. For todays card, I created the base of the card using the Stitched stackable tree die from lawn fawn. One for the front and the back. For the back of the card, score a line 1.5 inches down from the top of the tree die, and place adhesive above the score line. Adhere the front die. Stamp the sentiment in black ink onto the card front. Next die cut glittered green cardstock using the Stackable tree frame die and wreath. Adhere both to the card front using foam adhesive. Die cut the bow using red cardstock and adhere using the glue tube. Most of this card involves die cutting so it was super quick to create. If shaped cards are not your forte, use the tree di...

Watercoloring can be very intimidating, even for me. But the more I watercolor using good brushes, and watercolor pans, and a watercolor I like, the more it becomes muscle memory.  Using the same materials each time, dramatically helps with consistent results (for me). I began this card by creating a rectangle water wash onto the watercolor. Then dipping into a blue ink, creating a blue background, which is considered a wet on wet technique.  Once dry the snowflakes were stamped on top in a navy ink, and the sentiments were stamped in black ink. Using the same watercolor paper, the foxes from the Winter Skies Stamp set were stamped in black ink onto a separate piece of paper, and then water colored in using, sepia, brown and orange tones.  You cannot tell in the photo but a shimmer watercolor was added to the scarves to make them sparkle. Once dry the foxes were cut out and adhered to the panel using foam adhesive.  The panel was then adhered to navy blue ...

Hello friends! One of my favorite ways to challenge myself in card making, is when I use a mini set.  Mini stamp sets are usually 2 x 3 inches, have a main image, a sentiment or two, and maybe smaller images.  It stretches creativity as well as simplifying products used.  A lot of times stampers feel overwhelmed by the amount of choices when starting a card, but I have found less is more a lot of time. First I stamped the otter onto the card front as a mark to where my focal point was going to be.  Using green ink and a blender tool, I applied ink onto the card.  When ink blending, pick up ink onto the blender, then tap the blender onto scratch paper, if there is going to be an ink ring on the blender, this is when the sharpness of the ring will come off.  I then start blending in light circles onto the card, I repeat this over and over until satisfied with the layer and darkness of the ink.  The sentiments were stamped in black ink, the he...

Hello Friends! Are you following along with the Lawn Fawn September Inspiration Week?  Today I am sharing a card using a few stamping techniques that I enjoy doing, heat embossing and ink distressing.  I started by inking up the snow background stamp from the Snow Cool set using VersaMark ink.  VersaMark ink is a watermark and embossing ink.  I applied clear embossing powder over the stamped image, and then heat embossed the card using a heat gun.  Using the Blue Jay ink from Lawn Fawn and a blending tool, I applied ink to the front of the card.  I started at the top of the card, working my way down to the bottom, to create a gradient look.  I stamped the sentiment in the same blue jay ink, and added the little snow flakes too.  The penguins were stamped, diecut and colored, then adhered to the card using foam adhesive to give the card some depth.  To embellish twine and sequins were added. Hello there! Today is the start of the October inspiration week for Lawn Fawn.  Today, I am sharing a card using the latest stamp set called Winter Scripty Sayings with the Scalloped Rectangle dies. Can you believe that it is mid October already?  Before I know it the holidays will be fast approaching...and I am not ready!  The card I am sharing today, is pretty simple to execute but it has some fun techniques that makes it not so clean and simple.  The great thing about this stamp set are all of the great sentiments!  Since I am making a Christmas card, I settled on the "season's greetings" sentiment. Instructions: 1.  Die cut white cardstock, using a scalloped rectangle die. 2.  At a diagonal apply a strip of washi tape across the diecut. 3.  Using a sponge tool and red ink.  Apply red ink below the washi tape. 4.  Using a darker red ink, stamp the season's greeting sentiment repeatedly to create a fun background...

I freaking LOVE Christmas...like i love it so much, I would marry it.  Christmas is my very favorite holiday.  But it kinda stresses me out, not gonna lie.  Every year, I try to get ahead by starting cards early, but time just slips away from me.
