Personalized card

A few weeks ago (before the sickies hit our house), my son went to one of his best friends birthday.  When it comes to birthdays for tweens & teens, I just go with a gift card now (however Jacob didn't think a gift card was enough, so we had to get Pokemon cards too lol).  So, I created a fun custom card for a 10 year old boy...bold colors and nothing to foo foo.   The "happy birthday" sentiment is from the Sophie's Sentiments stamp set, then I stamped "josh" using the Quinn's ABC's set (then colored in the letters using blue copic markers).  I didn't like all of the colors of the star chipboard, so I colored over them with red & blue Copic markers. inside of the card Materials Used: Lawn Fawn Stamps: Quinn's ABC's & Sophie's Sentiments October Afternoon pattern paper Fancy Pants chipboard Spellbinders Labels One Nestabilities May Arts twine Copic markers red ink black ink

Avocado Arts: Thankful for You

Image
The September, Thankful for You stamp set from Avocado arts is now available.  So today the design team is showcasing cards/projects using this fun fall set.  It has cute images, a few background builders, and great sentiments.  For my card, I kept it clean and graphic, using the chevron/ric rac background builder, and sentiment paired with some October Afternoon paper.  Looking at the card now, I probably should have added some twine, or even another button/bling in one of the corners so that the card "flows" better.  But, all in all, I still like the card.  I used my favorite color combination (red/yellow) , and it will still make a great thank you card.   Visit the rest of the design team to see their projects, and if you want to see this set in full head on over to the Avocado Arts website. A cute little paper box

Image
Are you all ready for Thanksgiving?   I have all my shopping done, I just need to start prepping some of the dishes I am making. My children are home this week, so trying to keep a clean house, has been fun lol. Today, I am sharing a cute little gift box I made using some October Afternoon paper I had.  I actually cut my pattern paper with a Spellbinders Grand Square die , before I scored the paper.  This ensured that I had perfect measurements for the top and bottom of the box.   Once my box was put together, I wrapped ribbon around it & tied a pretty bow.  The tag was created by using the Bows & Holly stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  After I stamped and fussy cut it out, I punched a hole at the top and attached it to the center of a bow using bakers twine and a button. Making these boxes are quite easy, and really only take a few minutes to make. Materials Used: Spellbinders LF-126 Grand Squares October Afternoon pattern paper Lawn Fawn stamps PTI r...

The frosting border was made my coloring it in with Copic markers. I mounted the cake using foam tape, to give it a little more depth. Hello there and happy Monday! It is raining, chance of thunderstorms, really a dreary day, however I am most excited for the rain.  My cup of tea will be extra tasty this morning.  Isn't it great how, a cup of coffee or tea can be so soothing, not to mention it will put a little pep in your step.   On to the card...today is the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz.  Anyone can participate.  The theme this month of May, is Birthdays.   For a complete list of participants click here .   Recently, I finally got my hands on some of the new October Afternoon lines of paper, and I have to say they really are beautiful.  The inspiration for this card came from the paper, and everything kind of just fell into place.  I love it when you don't have to fight with a card ( and that happens a lot lol ).  Isn't that tree gorgeous!?!  So beautiful!  The tree is from the Asian Gardens set, and the sentiment is from the Fancy Phrases set.  A...
