I have some fun news to share. Today is my first day designing for Card Positioning Systems . Thank you Tami, for asking me to join this talented group of card designers. I had not planned on playing along with this months blog hop, but I'm procrastinating and I got a last minute gift from my Sister, so I had stuff to re-use.  Why am I procrastinating you ask...the movers are starting to pack up our stuff, destination Jacksonville, FL.  To make things even funner I think I might be getting the flu, so nothing too fancy to share today. My Sister sent me some new yummy pj's for Christmas, so I re-purposed the cardboard stuff that is in the center of them when you first buy them, and the ribbon that was wrapped around them. Here is the cardboard stuff I was talking about (its almost like chipboard) and the satin ribbon which was so neatly tied around my new pajamas, even with a cute button. I cut the chipboard/cardboard in strips, and then picked out some of my favorite Spellbinder dies, I cut and embossed them using my Cuttlebug.  From that piece of chipboard, look at all the tags/diecuts I now have. Today's color challenge (black, sahara sand, vanilla) gave me a little jump start and I got four more xmas cards done.  This is a Christmas card using non-traditional colors, but I think it works and its post office friendly, the envelope "feelers" will not feel a single bump on this card.  I wanted to add something other than ribbon, and then I remembered my stickles!  I forget how cool stickles are, except that it takes forever to dry. Just a quick and easy card today.  Winter is coming so that means lots of friends & family under the weather.  Its always nice to get a card in the mail when you are not feeling well.  I used the Quilt set from Papertrey Ink, for my image and sentiment.  I ordered a set of the new label dies from Spellbinders (I'm waiting on another set too), they are so flipping cool.  I have a few spica glitter pens, so I used them to color in the quilt squares.   Here is a little tip, when I put a button on my bows, I first run twine through the button and double knot it, I then get a glue dot, put in on the back of the button and attach it to the bow.  Glue dots are super strong, so your button will stay put. This weeks Wed. Unity Challenge is to Use Pink and to have HOPE H...Use a sentiment having to do with HOPE O...Put some ribbon ON your card, think pink P...Use something PINK E...Embellish with something that starts with an "m" for mammogram If you happen to play along use the key words USC10 & Unity when you upload your card so it shows up in the Unity gallery & there is a thread to post it on here I used MINI bling for my "m" thing, used a hope sentiment, my ribbon and the pink...check, card complete.  I used Floral Fantastical, I've only stamped it up once I think, and its far too pretty to be ignored.  I used my stamp a majig to line up the flowers & stamped them twice, to create a row of flowers.  I colored them in with my trusty Copic markers. This month's theme for the PTI blog hop, is Polka Dots.  To create any project using polka dots.  My son's birthday is a few weeks away, so I am starting to pick up gifts for him.  He loves video games and movies, so here is one of his presents, a little gamer package.  A few Wii games, Iron Man the movie and some new DS stylises (sp).  I will add some popcorn and candy to it, but its still to warm to keep chocolate laying around, today its in the 80's! I made a coordinating card too.  Since this is for a boy, I couldn't go overboard with the polka dots, so I kept it more subtle.  The dark chocolate polka dot ribbon on the card really make it pop, so I am happy with my results. Happy Wednesday!  Here is my card for the Unity Wednesday Challenge (I combined it with today's sketch challenge too).  Listed are the rules for this weeks Challenge if you want to play along: 1.  Use ribbon 2.  Use something clear; acetate, transparency, button, crystal effects etc... 3.  Use something from your last Unity order I used clear embossing powder, to emboss my leaf image.  Got the ribbon & used the Gratitude=Joy stamp set I got in the mail last week. One of my friends {since we were 14} is having a birthday this week, so I needed  a nice but quick card to send her.  It made it even easier because I used Julee T's mojo57 sketch (you can find her blog on my blog roll to the right)  I made my own dp, using a flourish from Inkadinkado & some Colorbox ink.  I also inked up my PTI anniversary set for the sentiment along with a borders and corners set for the dotted square.  This is my favorite kind of card to make, simple but pretty and you can't go wrong with kraft, red & white, its impossible.  Go try and see, it will be beautiful :) "Birthday Wishes" kraft, poppy & stampers select white paper, inkadinkado stamps, PTI stamps, PTI ribbon, rectangle nestie

As most of you know October is Breast Cancer awareness month.  I am donating this card to Chemo Angels, SCS is collecting cards until November to go to this great cause.  You can find more about it here Its a really great cause & I am a stamper, I make cards, this is what I do.  A Chemo Angel is someone who volunteers to encourage someone who is battling cancer & they must send a card once a week.  So SCS is donating all the cards collected to help make that job a little easier.  There are some amazing people in this country and I think a lot of times we forget about that.  I thought it was only fitting to use the Melissa Frances breast cancer designer paper, I love it, its just so pretty.  The image and sentiment is from Flourishes.  Its a pitcher of lemonade.  If you don't get the pitcher and the "celebrate" sentiment, let me explain.  When you are going through health issues, its sometimes good to remind yourself to celebrate the "today" & the pi...

So I made this a few days ago, but didn't put it on my blog (posted it on scs).  Its called a stair step card.  They really give  Wow effect but they are not too functional.  That is my goal before Xmas, is to somehow make this functional, meaning finding a place to write a message.  I'm thinking a tag behind one of the layers.  You can find the directions on how to make this on Splitcoaststampers, its basically a lot of scoring, which creates the stairs and then you can add more stuff :)  I used Christmas paper from last year, Unity stamps, PTI stamps & some pretty satin ribbon. Hi there bloggers :)  So today is Wednesday and that means another Unity Challenge, this week Lisa was talking all kinds of mess that her husband can make the best card lol.  So a bunch of the girls are having their husbands/boyfriends whoever, make cards (hubby's challenge).  My husband is not going to make a card, (he has made cards for me in the past, but he isn't going to make one for fun lol).  Remember he is a Pilot in the military I would hate for him to make a card and someone in his squadron see it, next thing you know he has a crazy call sign lol, which would be my fault & then it would affect my craft spending & we don't want that to happen.  Anyhow, so for us who's significant other will not make a card, our challenge is to make a masculine card.   I like frilly girly stuff and yummy luscious ribbon & bows, so making a masculine card, is a challenge for me.  I think I did ok.  Right?  This is masculine right?  Now that I'm looking at it, the ...

So Chris hosted a PTI swap (yesterday was the last day to sign up) and here is my card that I made for it.  I used Snowflake Serenade for my stamps, they didn't get enough love last Christmas :)  The colors are really earthy, instead of the bright green and red you normally see in a holiday card.  I can't wait to see what all of the other ladies came up with!  They are a great group of swappers, this is round 9 & most of us have swapped together since round 1. So I received some happy mail yesterday from my DSS (dear secret sister) and she had made me a double pocket bag & filled it with lots of goodies (if you are reading this "thank you so much") So I decided that I would try it out.  They are really cool & all you need for the base is one sheet of 12x12 paper.  I went with today's CC184 colors, so my base is a sheet of 12x12 textured Always Artichoke by SU.  To make one of these cute bags you can find the directions  here. I used my Quilters Sampler stamp set from Papertrey Ink, I don't use it nearly enough.  My DSS also sent me the lace paper ribbon, that I used on this, its made by K & Company & its really neat!  If you have lots of 12x12 paper hanging around go check out the tutorial, these would make perfect gifts.  Anyone started on Christmas projects yet? Today's technique lovers challenge (tlc186) over on SCS, is to use a background stamp and put glitter on it.  This is my preferred way of getting this look~ 1.  Stamp image with Versamark 2.  apply heat and stick powder (SU) 3.  Heat emboss 4.  Apply Dazzling Diamonds its a fine glitter by Stampin up (you can use whatever kind) 5.  Heat emboss again to set it. It makes a dramatic statement and really gives your card that Wow effect, it doesn't take that long to do. Ok so I attempted to make a monochromatic card, its close but not really a true definition of monochromatic meaning "one tone".  I say, I used warm colors which could be considered a color family. OK I know I'm stretching it a little, but honestly this is what I came up with so I'm going with it & it took longer than what I would have like.  I don't have a lot of time to create, so I try to limit my time to make a card around 15-30 minutes...is that too long?  I did a lot of stamping, coloring, & not to mention, used a lot of layers so it took a little longer.  In my defense I was done by the time Jess got back from the gym.   Today's color challenge (cc182 on scs) is monochromatic if you all want to try your hand at it too.  I used three different stamp sets from Flourishes llc, Damask, Lilac & Fantasy Floral Garden.  I stamped the Damask background using chocolate chip from SU and then Memento for the flowers and the sentiment.  I used a ruby red...

These are my Papertrey Ink swaps (held on SCS) that I just finished.  So now I need to get them mailed off.  I am now done with all of my swaps I had signed up for.  Things are going to start to get hectic here soon.   The base of the card is PTI, but the white & red card stock is from Prism & the designer paper is Cosmo Cricket.  I used Spiral Bouquet and Mixed Messages stamp sets (both PTI) and stamed them with Spring Moss, Ruby Red and Memento Brown ink.  I made little tags and tied them onto the Cosmo Cricket ribbon using brown twine.  The felt scalloped ribbon is also from Cosmo Cricket. Anyhow, I hope the ladies like them, I can't wait to see what everyone else created! "Bloom"

So this months theme is to use vellum.  Can I just say, vellum and I battled it out today, things were not going well LOL.  So finally I made this.  The card base is sweet blush, layered with the vintage cream.  On top of the vintage cream card stock I put polka-dotted vellum from the Paper Company.  The smaller rectangle, I layered it the same as the base, but I stamped on the plain vellum using Spiral Bouquet.  I used sweet blush & berry sorbet ink.  The "Enjoy" sentiment is stamped in Stazon ink.  The ribbon is sweet blush  also from PTI.  You can't see them but I attached the vellum to the card stock with brads {I don't like adhesive to show}  I know this is super simple, but it took so long to make, but I like it.   thanks for stopping by~ ~Latisha~ *my first few cards were horrible, the vellum and I had a battle & it was winning for a while, its so easy to mess up using this stuff, so I settled on the less is more philosophy*

I was at a scrapbook store yesterday or the day before...any how, I picked up this Honey Pie dp by Cosmo Cricket...isn't it yummy.  I am telling you ladies, this is just so fresh and fun, I love it, oh and its double sided, double score.  Anyhow, I have not inked up these stamps in a while, they looked sad and dusty, so I gave them some love today and inked those babies up >"
