This past fall, my daughter like many High School students out there, went to a Homecoming Dance.  She went with a group of girlfriends, they all ended up staying the night, eating, chatting and actually scrapbooking.  While they were at the dance, I had pictures developed, so when they returned their pictures were sitting on top of new scrapbooks.  It was a fun night for sure. Well, my daughter still has not put her pictures into her scrapbook lol.  So when Punky Sprouts sent us these mini albums, I knew right away that I was going to use some of the pictures from Homecoming.  Kendall turned 17 yesterday, so it was a perfect time to give it to her.  Kendall loves the colors blue and green, so using the Daphne's Closet line of paper and stickers was a perfect fit. Happy New Year!! Did you all make it through the holidays?  I know I put on a few pounds for sure lol. Today I am showing another project using the January stamp set from Avocado Arts.  I decided to make a treat container, perfect for Valentine's Day.  I scored some scrap card stock, stamped my images onto them, then stapled it to a glassine bag filled with candy. Here is a cute little stationery set I made using the new Falala paper line from Lawn Fawn.  By cutting this out using my Cameo, I was able to complete this project pretty fast.  To the folio, I just added some yellow card stock and a Falala sticker, and some hemp cord.  Then on the card, I stamped just a little bit and added a strip of pattern paper.  Easy peasy. How many of you still have your Cosmo Cricket kit you bought on tv earlier this year, that you still have not done anything with?  I have used some of the pieces here and there, but the meat of the kit has been sitting patiently, waiting to be love.  So last night I decided I wanted to make an album for my husband to take with him the next time he deploys.  I am pretty sure it is going to happen in the next year.  I want most of the little things like this done, before we know, so I am not in freak out mode trying to get everything done.  With that said, go get your chip-board and lets make an album! Here is a gift set I made for my son's teacher {Mrs. B} for Valentines Day. I first made the tags with each childs name on it. This was a project that was not supposed to take very long, but it did >" This was my first card using acetate, it was pretty easy, you just have to be very careful, its hard to cover a blemish on something that is see through. I kind of just guessed on what to do but if you go to http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ there is an area that will give you a tutorial on stamping on acetate. I used Real Red & Whisper White cardstock from SU. The polka dot ribbon is from May Arts. I found this stamp set at Hobby Lobby yesterday. Its from Stampabilities {and was 50% off}, its called the Teacher Survival Kit. Do you ever go somewhere, or maybe you are in the shower, and someone calls and your husband answers the phone but he forgets to tell you until oh...4 hours later or you are getting into bed? My husband is famously known to forget to give me a message and then it is way too late at night to return the call. I havn't been feeling well & I got invited to go to the movies with a bunch of gals last night, but I knew I couldn't sit through a 2 hour movie so I had to say no. Also my husband already had plans to go out with a friend. While he was gone, I made this notepad to take messages. A while ago I went to Target and in the dollar bins were 4x6 were these notpads, they are like post-it notes but the Target brand. This pad was screaming to be altered. So I went and got a 12x12 piece of paper and cut a piece so it was 4 1/2in x 12in. I scored it at 6in & 6 1/4in. So it left the front about 3/4in short. A huge thank you to Chris and my dss "Mary"! I got two great packages in the mail today. The first few pictures are the things Chris sent to me. She is a best friend that anyone would love to have. Plus she loves paper crafting as much as I do! She doesn't make me feel guilty about buying or hoarding too much, we both have a "thing" about cutting into pretty paper when you don't have much left of it lol . Anyhow, In the package today there was a book called Get Real Greetings, all I have to say is hilarious and perfect! A Cuttlebug embossing folder (friend), 3 cards, 3 monogramed notebooks...one for me, my daughter and son, gummie Lobsta's (or lobters if you are not from New England) and an altered papertrey packaging box, that she turned into a candy holder for Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I took a closer picture of that :) She hand stamped and punched each peanut butter cup and stamped "friend" in the center. It had to take a long time...

The other day when I made the altered composition book for myself, my daughter Kendall wanted one too, but I was out of the double sided red tape. I can't recall the brand I use but it comes in a red roll and its very very strong, its in the aisle with adhesives. Anyhow, so we went to Hobby Lobby and got some more of the tape and last night, Kendall finally made her notebook :) I let her go through all of my paper, and believe me I have more than anyone should. Well she picked out paper that is at least 5 years old, imagine that. Its designed by Susan Branch. Do you remember when her paper was popular? I don't even know if she has a line of paper anymore? After she picked out the paper and we stamped and distressed, it was just missing something. So I'm done traveling, my dad is back in CA, (he was here for about 11 days) my husband is back to work and the kids go back to school on Monday. It has been a very busy last few weeks. Not to mention I am battling with a minor Crohn's flare up. I keep telling myself I have been through worse than this, so things are going to be OK. Well I made a compostition book like this for my neice Wentir (sounds like winter) for Christmas, because she loves to write and draw. Plus my brother and her mom can never find anything with her name on it. So I guess the morning of Christmas she opened up her present from me (well the comp book) and she was so excited that she had her own book with her name on it. The whole time I was altering her book I kept thinking that I wanted it, and an 8 year old isn't going to care about some notebook. So I was happy to hear my hard work was appreciated. Back to this composition book lol. I am in a Papertrey ink swap and I have a ton of thank you card...

So I am in this cookie swap and I have to make 11 dozen brownies...yes you read right 132 brownies. Well I went to all of the stores to get some containers to put them in, but they are not cheap. $4 dollars isn't much money, but when you times it by 11...thats $44, and most likely they will end up throwing the container away. I am extremely busy in my life right now, but I had some time to make these bags instead of buying containers. Inside of the bag will be a cellophane bag which the brownies will go into to keep them fresh. Have any of you been checking out Tim Holtz's blog lately? Well I have and he has inspired me to make a cute tag. Now this isn't the best tag I have ever made, but I do like it. And to be completely honest, I took some cold medicine and made this about 1/2 after I took it, I really should have stopped and went to bed, but I really wanted to finish it. So a while back I was blog surfing and I saw a tree like this on someones blog (sorry I don't remember the blog name). I thought it looked really easy to make. A few days ago I went to Joann's, and bought some styrofoam cones. This one is the tallest one they sell, I thinks its around 18 inches or so. I cut paper 1/2 inch by 6 inches, bring both edges together, get a sewing pin & push through the paper and into the cone. I used the red pearlized decorative pins, because the top row the pins are visable. Oh, and I started at the bottom. Before I ever began, I did spray the cone with glitter spray paint, because I didn't like the white. The paper used in this tree was in the Provo Craft holiday slab pack. For the star, I used SU chipboard then painted it with an Adriondack acrylic paint dabber in red pepper. Once dry I used SU heat & stick powder and dazzling diamonds, to make the star sparkle.
