After my daughter finished & sent out her thank you cards I thought it might be a good time to finish mine :) My inspiration came from some newly bought May Arts ribbon. Its double sided stitched satin ribbon, I love it and have it in many different colors. I find it much easier to make a card if I have an idea of what I want to use, be it ribbon, paper or a stamp etc. The ribbon is pretty close to purely pomegranite and barely banana (SU colors), so I grabbed the cardstock in those colors. Then I went through my designer paper and looked for a sheet that matched both. I chose a BasicGrey paper from the Blush line. The image is from Michael's dollar bin stamped in purely pomegranite. I ran the barely banana cardstock through my Cuddlebug using the thank you embossing folder. If a card looks too plain and I don't want to use more designer paper, I will dry emboss the background. A huge thank you to Chris and my dss "Mary"! I got two great packages in the mail today. The first few pictures are the things Chris sent to me. She is a best friend that anyone would love to have. Plus she loves paper crafting as much as I do! She doesn't make me feel guilty about buying or hoarding too much, we both have a "thing" about cutting into pretty paper when you don't have much left of it lol . Anyhow, In the package today there was a book called Get Real Greetings, all I have to say is hilarious and perfect! A Cuttlebug embossing folder (friend), 3 cards, 3 monogramed notebooks...one for me, my daughter and son, gummie Lobsta's (or lobters if you are not from New England) and an altered papertrey packaging box, that she turned into a candy holder for Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Julee over at http://www.poeticartistry.blogspot.com/ has a challenge every Monday and she calls it "Mojo Monday" all of her sketches are always awesome, but I never get to play. However this weekend I finally made a card using her sketch, cool huh!! I try to take my pictures during the day, so this isn't the best picture to post. However I'm taking the kids on a spur of the moment trip to Walt Disney World this weekend. A very sweet neighbor down the street gave us a one day pass to the Magic Kingdom. So needless to say I have a lot to get done tonight. I am working on my getting "mojo" for my Christmas cards, this is a warm up card. I go through several prototypes/samples before I have my finished project. I worked on this to get me into the x-mas spirit. Its hard to think about Christmas when you live in Florida and its still 90 degrees outside. Its a really simple card, and will be easy to add more to really make it pop. I finally have done one of Beate's sketch challenges, creativity must ooze through her body because everything she makes is incredible! This is WSC 22. Lets see I started out with close to cocoa base which I ran through my cuddlebug , with the d'vine swirl embossing folder. Can I just say how much I love those folders, love them :). The designer paper is by Daisy Bucket Designs, the Astor Park Collection, I used Emilie St. & Clay St. Its double sided paper, I really think all dp should be double sided, there are so many more possibilities you can do with it. Anyhow, I layered whisper white cardstock on top. I used four different stamp sets to make this card; Fast & Fun note, Polka dots and Petals, All in a Row, and In the Loop Alphabet all by Stampin Up. For ink I used Close to Cocoa, Purely Pomegranate , Versamark and Basic Black Stampin ' write marker. So my son is finally feeling better but now I am getting something. He had strep-throat but I'm hoping I just have a cold, who knows. Anyhow, today all I am going to do is be crafty. I have some cards I need to finish up and start on, not to mention I had 10 rolls of film developed yesterday! They were from last year!!! Needless to say I have some major scrapbooking to do. I love my SLR camera and all the cool bells and whistles it has but I am really enjoying my digital camera. Here is my card I made for the burgandy swap on scs. The card has to have burgandy somewhere on it. I thought about using the baroque burgandy cardstock for the entire background but I like it better with the white cardstock instead. I used white cardstock by papertrey, burgandy baroque by su, the designer paper is by mme the bohemia line (I'm loving that paper, plus its double sided!) For accessories and embellisments I used, marvy scalloped square punch, creative memories square punch, prima flowers, sweet bella blooms(burg. flower) white ribbon, and silver brads. Images by Paper Trey. I used versa color narcissus ink and stampin ups bravo burgundy. Oh, before I forget the background is dry embossed with the textile folder using my cuttlebug. I think I bought the cuttlebug just for the embossing :) it adds dimension and that extra something that makes cards pop. Is it me or does it seem like once school/fall begins there is always a birthday, anniversary, baby being born and not to mention all of the holidays...to make cards for. I got a little lazy over the summer not creating as much. Thank goodness for the swaps I was in to get my creative juices flowing. I've made three cards today so far and I still have a few more to make, all of them except one are all going snail mail. A little boy named Noah, he lives down the street from us, he turns 9 tomorrow. I made a birthday card for him. Now that Jacob is getting older, I am finding that it is getting more difficult to make masculine cards. Thats something I need to work on. Noah's card was really simple to make. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the green paper, I found some birthday designer paper that had green in it. Then I cut the corners of the white cardstock with my scallop corner cutter thingy.
