getting dirty with the dirty girls

Image
So today the challenges started on SCS {the dirty girl challenges}.  Every year the Dirty Dozen {the best of the best stampers and SCS design team} have challenges and the fan club members get to play along.  Laurie challenged everyone to use vellum on a card today.  I had no vellum, so I ran to Michael's to pick some up.  I don't like my adhesive to show through on vellum {I have tried them all and they all show through} so I tend not to use it very much.  If any of you have any tricks or the best adhesive to use with vellum, please let me know >" If you participate in all of the challenges this week your name will be put in a hat to win a prize, I want a prize >" This second card, is the ribbon challenge that Jody { confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com } gave.  You needed to let ribbon influence your card.  This was really easy, well because I love ribbon.  I got some new {to me} vanilla grosgrain ribbon, I love this thickness it makes really pretty bows an...

Its Friday!

*Don't forget about the Sunday Sketch you have today and tomorrow to link your card to me, if you want a goody.  Scroll down a few posts to see my sample and a bigger image of the sketch. So Chris had sent me some Primas that she picked up from convention and she stamped off a few images for me so I thought I would put them to use >" This first card, I made right after the circle card below it.  I was still inspired by circles and had this image in my head, using Fantasy Floral Garden from Flourishes.  I just stamped some of the flowers in different spots at the bottom of the circle to make it kind of seem like a flower garden.  I colored the flower in using Copic markers, then went over them with Prisma pencils and a black micron pen.  I layered the circle onto a black circle, black really makes a card pop try it you will see >" This card is for today's limited supply challenge on SCS.  You couldn't use patterned paper, not a lot of embellishments, and a li...

Verve Visual #2 Gate Fold

Image
Here is my second card for the Verve Visual guest designer contest. This card I made it a gate fold card, its where the card opens in the center {like a gate} intead of the side or bottom. My friend Chris recently used the grass hopper {Papertreyink} on a swap she made, which inspired me to make this card. I knew I wanted to use BasicGrey's Two Scoops dp, it has a lot of greens in the line, so the grasshopper went perfect with the paper. I generation stamped the grasshopper, which made the card flow so much better. The peachy/groovy guava looking paper is by Bazzill & I have know idea what the "real" color name is. The images are from Papertrey Ink stamp sets Green Thumb and Borders & Corners. I am really happy with how this card turned out, it has clean lines...which probably is my favorite style of card to make. Materials used: Basic Grey Two Scoops designer paper, Whisper white cardstock {SU} Bazzil textured paper, Wild Wasabi stamp pad, Cameo Coral stam...

another page done

Image
Is anyone else having problems with blogger today? These pictures took forever to upload!! I am so proud of myself. Today I did another page for my daughter :) but everything was from stuff I already have and I used my cricut...which had some serious dust bunnies on it, & I used some stickers. I have soooooo many stickers, but do I ever use them anymore, hhmmm "no". I even have them hanging underneath a shelf, so I can see them. Its almost like a store because they are all in there packages hanging there perfectly...but too perfect to use...I know, I must be 1/2 crazy...we all are >" I'm focusing now, back to the page. All of the paper is from the Pheobe line of BasicGrey, and I used my handy dandy cricut to cut out some sweeeeet letters from the Doodletype cartridge. The pink flowers are Got Flowers Deux {primas} with little silver brads in the center. The vellum sticker {definition of a girl} is from EK success that I bought forever ago at AC Moore or Miche...

My Secret Project

Image
My daughter is turning 12 years old at the end of February. She loves all things crafty & would love nothing more than to spend the weekend just making cards and "stuff". She has her own school days album that I continually work on & a friends album that she works on. This spring we will be moving, we are all used to this being my husband is in the military. However, this move is going to be the hardest for my daughter. She has become so attached to her group of girlfriends, so I thought as one of her gifts this year I would make her an album. I emailed friends and family asking if they would make a page to put in the album as well. It is going to be a 6 in. x 6 in. album. Since this is a surprise gift, I have to work on it in secret, that means my time is limited to when Kendall is at school or sleeping. Today I finished the first page of the scrapbook. I am using a Stampin Up album, so all I need to do is slide in the pages, so I am not limited to what I can use, a...

Notepad

Image
Do you ever go somewhere, or maybe you are in the shower, and someone calls and your husband answers the phone but he forgets to tell you until oh...4 hours later or you are getting into bed? My husband is famously known to forget to give me a message and then it is way too late at night to return the call. I havn't been feeling well & I got invited to go to the movies with a bunch of gals last night, but I knew I couldn't sit through a 2 hour movie so I had to say no. Also my husband already had plans to go out with a friend. While he was gone, I made this notepad to take messages. A while ago I went to Target and in the dollar bins were 4x6 were these notpads, they are like post-it notes but the Target brand. This pad was screaming to be altered. So I went and got a 12x12 piece of paper and cut a piece so it was 4 1/2in x 12in. I scored it at 6in & 6 1/4in. So it left the front about 3/4in short. I got my SU corner rounder and took off the black shield and punched al...

birthday card for Savannah

Image
I made this card for the sweetest little girl Savannah who just turned two. I don't get to see her very often (since we live in different states) but I wanted to send a card to let her know I was thinking of her (her mom anyway...don't think Savannah remembers me) Erica who is Savannah's mom, we have been friends since we were 14 years old...not to give my age away but its going on 18 years this year. My husband is in the military and we left California when my oldest was three years old. So it makes me sad sometimes knowing our kids can't grow up together and get to know each other better. Jess and I are really lucky to have great friends we have found during our travels. Most of them we consider family now. So even though we miss our family and friends in California, in each new town we meet people who welcome us in with open arms and it as though we have known each other forever. In case they are reading I have to thank three woman who have blessed me with t...
