Avocado Arts: Hello Friend

Image
The Avocado Arts design team is sharing projects using the July stamp set called Hello Friend today. I wanted to make something cheerful and happy, and incorporate a rainbow somehow.  So I stamped the telephone image a few times, then colored them in using my Copic markers.  I bought a spool of the rope cording in Greece, but if you want something similar and a little thicker, Canvas Corps sells something really close. Make sure to head on over to the Avocado Arts blog and website to check out the July Hello Friend set. As well as the rest of the designers. Card Set using Lawn Fawn

Image
I love making card sets, there is something about creating something for someone that just makes me happy.  Another thing that makes me very happy, is using my Lawn Fawn stamp sets.  Those smily faces kill me (in a good way).  Smily faces on a tissue box and bandaids (from On the Mend )?  Awesome!  Plus I love how the florals from the Blissful Botanicals set, can be colored any way. I believe you can make a simple card set outstanding, if you use really nice paper.  I chose to use a really nice pressed water color/textured paper for this card set.  Since it is a thicker paper, and I used Copic markers, I needed to work quickly to blend the ink.  I don't recommend using this kind of paper all the time to use copics on, since it will use a lot of ink.  But, for someone special, it is perfect.   materials used: textured paper Copic markers corner rounder Lawn Fawn stamps: On the Mend & Blissful Botanicals twine memento ink scoring tool

SSD sketch 82, and I'm home from Greece!

Image
Head on over to the Skipping Stones Designs blog to check out sketch #82.  Here is my take on the sketch.  I created a background using a texture stamp from the Garden Stamp Kiss set.  The sentiment is from the Uplifting stamp set . The twine, is a little different than bakers twine, it almost feels like plastic, but it isn't.  I picked up a few rolls of it while I was in Greece.  Which is why the lack of posts recently.  I left on the 18th, and returned just a few days ago on the 26th.  I hope to blog about my trip and show some pictures soon.  I am really busy with finishing up a lot of projects in my hopper. I hope you have a great week! Thank you Skipping Stones for having me this month!

Skipping Stones Sketch

Image
Head on over to the Skipping Stones Design blog , to check out this weeks sketch. For my card, I started out by stamping a background in orange ink using the Timeless Texture s stamp set onto pattern paper.  I then cut/embossed the pattern paper using a S4-114 Spellbinders Circle die template.  To define the edges a little better, I took the ink pad and rubbed it along the edges.  Before adhering the back of the card base to the front, I tied twine around the front, an added a kraft border (created with a border punch).  I stamped the butterflies onto orange card stock, cut them out and adhered them onto the card with foam tape.  The sentiment and the butterflies are from the Uplifting stamp set.

Lawn Fawn Inspiration week: Blissful Botanicals

Image
The Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week is wrapping up with day 3, but boy is today an awesome set to showcase.  It is called Blissful Botanicals.  I especially like this set because, it allows me to color in these images (with Copics of course).  If coloring isn't your thing, these absolutely are stand alone images, or you could paper piece them as well.   Head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog , for your chance to win a few stamp sets.  Plus if you would like more inspiration using this set, visit the rest of the design team. Schoolhouse Backdrops

Image
Here we are on day #2 for the Lawn Fawn Inspiration week for June.  Today the design team is focusing on the Schoolhouse Backdrops stamp set.  It is a background building set to give you perfect ledgers, and lined paper of all kinds. I started off by stamping the notebook lines onto kraft cardstock, then stamping the super cute sentiment, which is from My Silly Valentine stamp set.  I couldn't find my punch that makes card stock look, like you just ripped it out of a notebook, so I used a hole punch to get the same look.  I then adhered the kraft panel to a white card base, using foam tape.  I stamped the apples onto white cardstock, colored them in using Copic markers, fussy cut them out, and then adhered them to the card using foam tape.  To finish the card off, I added a Canvas Corps mini clothes pin to the top. On the Mend: Get Well Soon

Image
It is inspiration week over at Lawn Fawn, and today the design team is showcasing the On the Mend stamp set.  I have to say, the smiley faces on the images in this set kill me...in a good way.  You can't help but smile and feel happy just by looking at them.   I started out, by stamping the band-aid image onto the card base with Versa mark ink.  For those of you, who may not know what Versamark is, it is a pigment watermark ink.  I chose to get a cool watermark look, but this ink is also good for using embossing powders.  The powder clings nicely to this ink. I stamped the vase of flowers onto white card stock, and colored it in using Copic markers.  I fussy cut the flowers out, then set it aside.  Before I adhered the pink card stock down, I rounded one of the bottom corner.  Then with foam tape, adhered the vase of flowers into place.  Next was stamping the sentiment, and I finished the card off by adding a Want2Scrap black circle rhinestones.  Instead of using the circle as a wh

You + Me = Fun

So, my children finished up their last day of school a few days ago.  I love summers, but we have not found our summer routine yet.  So far, it has been staying up late, trips to get ice cream, naps, and saying we are going to deep clean the house, but there is always something better to do...like go to the pool lol. Today, I was playing around with some new Avocado Arts stamp sets called Strike a Pose & AvocadoType (which is an alphabet set), to create a fun shaped card.  I didn't have a plan before I started to make this, I just knew I wanted to make a card to remind myself to enjoy the moment, and to have fun. Speaking of fun, how awesome is the viewfinder stamp!  It can also double as a game spinner.  My children are always making up their own games, now I can make them their own game pieces.   Today, I used it as a viewfinder.  Nothing fancy, just a fun summer card.   Do you all have any summer plans?  We have a few vacations planned, but we are most excited about my hu

SSD Sketch #79

Image
For the month of June, I was asked to be the Guest Sketch Artist for Skipping Stones.  To check out this weeks sketch, head on over to the Skipping Stones Design blog . For my card, I used the Heartsong stamp set.  I love how all of the images incorporate some kind of music notes.  Not only are the images cute, but I could see any music lover really admiring this set.  My daughter, who plays the piano and sings (and rarely comments on stamp sets) thought that this was a cool set.  Which is a big compliment coming from a teenager lol.   To create the shape of the card, I cut/embossed a Spellbinders Grand Label die twice, then adhered the pieces together (at the top) to create the card base.  I then cut/embossed a smaller die, with kraft paper and stamped the scene on that.  To give the card a little dimension, I adhered the kraft panel to the card using foam tape.  The same with the bird.  I stamped the bird onto yellow card stock, cut it out, an adhered it to the card with foam tape.

Sunshine & Smiles

Image
Today, the Avocado Arts design team is showcasing a project made with the June stamp set called Sunshine & Smiles .   For my project, I stamped the rain boot in versa mark onto the kraft card stock.  I then paper pieced the boot using My Minds Eye pattern paper, and popped them over the stamped boot.  I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine black ink.  To soften up the card, I rounded the bottom corners, an added some bakers twine.
