Dear Dad

When it comes to making masculine cards, the key is keeping them simple and to the point. For this card, I wanted a side fold card, to allow more space for this large sentiment to have breathing room. First the card was cut and scored to 4.25 x 5.5 inches. The ticks & tacks stencil and blender brushes was created to make the background. Then the bold "dear dad" sentiment was stamped last. To make the sentiment stand out, I outlined it using a white gel pen. To embellish, a simple twine bow was added.    The sentiments from this stamp set are so great, it was hard to narrow it down. To start the card base was created from toffee cardstock. To create the background, the clear hop stamps were stamped multiple times in sugar cube ink, until the card front was covered. I wanted the sentiment and beer to be in the bottom right corner, so the sentiment was stamped in black. Then the beer mug outline was stamped in black, then filled in with yellow ink, and adhered to the card ...

Love Beyond Measure

Hello friends!  I hope wherever you are visiting from today, that you are having a wonderful Sunday!  I am showing a sneak peek of a new stamp set called What A Guy from Technique Tuesday.  This set has really fun "tool" images and then sentiments that coordinate with the tool. Its very clever.   I was in a watercoloring mood before starting on this card. So for selfish reasons more than design reasons, I stamped the tape measure images multiple times, using VersaFine black ink.  This is a permanent black ink, that works perfect when watercoloring.  A grey/blue, deep blue and yellow/orange were the water color pigments that I chose to use.  This is a masculine card, so the colors help convey that theme. Head on over to the Technique Tuesday blog , to see the full reveal of this set! Happy Fathers Day

Image
Lawn Fawn is having an inspiration week and showcasing some of the newest stamp sets.  Today I am sharing a Fathers Day Card using the new Pland & Simple stamp set.  Being my husband is an aviator, I am loving all of the different creative combinations I can do with these stamps/dies.  Since Fathers Day is tomorrow, I chose the "you're the best" sentiment for the plane banner and the "happy fathers day" sentiment for the card.  I love the combination of blue and greens, so I colored in the banner and plane to coordinate with the pattern paper. For a chance to win this stamp set, head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog , to see all of the beautiful samples using this set.
