A Scrapbook page using Unity and Cosmo

Image
I am not the best scrapper out there, I scrap for my children and to remember memories, and its a little scary putting them on my blog for everyone to see.  But, I am starting to feel more and more comfortable putting my layouts out there.  For this layout, my base is white textured card stock from American Crafts, all of the pattern paper, stickers & chipboard are from the Boyfriend line by Cosmo Cricket.  Do you see those cute little banner/pennant things?  They are actually stamps, from the Unity Stamp Company's January Scrapbook kit of the month.  The picture is of my son on the first day of school this year.  Then using tiny type stickers from Cosmo Cricket, I did some journaling with them.  Scrapping is a great way to use up all of that paper that we all like to hoard.  I have to admit, I am starting to get better at using my supplies up, or giving them away.  It really is a waste just to let them sit.  I hope you all have a wo...

I scrapped!

Image
If you are like me you are way behind in scrapbooking, or maybe you are a superstar and all caught up...if so tell me your secrets lol.  So I went and got some new paper at Michael's last night, I was rather surprised to see trendy paper.  So I picked up a pack of Friendly Forest paper from Colorbok, I gravitated towards it because  it seemed perfect for boy layouts.   One of my dear friends Chris started 52 sketches a few weeks ago, they put a new sketch out every week, then at the end of the year you have 52 layouts.  I'm a little behind starting out, being this is week 4, but I'm proud of myself for getting it done last night.  The pictures are of my little guy when he was almost 3 years old (he is 8 now).  The "details" stamp is from Unity Stamp Co & the stickers are felt Thickers, oh and i did use a Martha Stewart punch on the green paper, as a border. The website I think is 52sketches52weeks.com if you are interested. "Trucks"

layout of my baby

So my son's birthday is coming up soon, so I'm feeling a little sad about him growing up.  I had a very difficult labor with him (we both almost died) and it was suggested that I never get pregnant again.  I am so happy with my two children, but somewhere deep down, I have never gotten over it not being my decision.  So I try to cherish all of my children's moments.  I know I'm really sappy, but I get like this around their birthdays.   A few weeks ago when we met Jess on base, Jacob took Jess aside and said "Dad, when I grow up I want to be just like you"  is that not the sweetest thing ever!  We have a really close relationship with our children, I hope that never changes.  Anyhow, I used white Prism paper as my base for the layout & then used some Making Memories NoteWorthy paper & die cuts for some color.  The little scalloped border is a Unity stamp that I got in my last kit of the month.  I used my stamp-a-majig to line it up perfectly. Another layout and Father's Day card

Image
Here is a layout I did a few weeks ago, and the card I made for Father's Day to send to my dad.  I love turning my photos into black and white pictures.  I can use pretty paper and embellishments, but the photo still remains the focal piece.  Last year I bought the entire Dutch Girl line {by Cosmo Cricket}.  Do you see the words "There is only one pretty child in the world and every mother has it"  it actually was part of the paper but I cut it up to run along the photo as a border, but don't you just love that saying!  The flowers of course are from Prima, and the gross grain ribbon running along the side is SU. I am trying really hard to raise amazing children, so the sentiment "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail." was absolutely perfect {sentiment is from Unity Stamps}.  I want my children to dream big and to leave a trail. On to the card before I get too mushy here.  This image is also from Unity Stamp...

I scrapped!

I went to a scrapbook store yesterday and found this yummy paper made by Making Memories.  Isn't it delicious!  I had to have it, a layout came to me right there and then...don't you love it when that happens. The sentiment is a single stamp from Unity Stamps...if you like to stamp on your layouts, these stamps are for you because they are huge!  Anyhow, I distressed it a ton, and turned it into a tag, by adding twine to it.  The felt ribbon is from the Cosmo Cricket set I got from QVC a while back.  I think the buttons might be from MM too...but not sure.  I didn't have any flourishes that flowed with this page, so I doodled some myself with a black micron pen, added dots and then colored it in with a Copic marker. This picture was taken in Pensacola Beach, FL.  It was a such a fun day, my inlaws were visiting for my husbands winging & we just hung out on the beach and had an impromptu photo shoot.  I love being a Mom, is just so bittersweet watching your kids grow up....

another page done

Image
Is anyone else having problems with blogger today? These pictures took forever to upload!! I am so proud of myself. Today I did another page for my daughter :) but everything was from stuff I already have and I used my cricut...which had some serious dust bunnies on it, & I used some stickers. I have soooooo many stickers, but do I ever use them anymore, hhmmm "no". I even have them hanging underneath a shelf, so I can see them. Its almost like a store because they are all in there packages hanging there perfectly...but too perfect to use...I know, I must be 1/2 crazy...we all are >" I'm focusing now, back to the page. All of the paper is from the Pheobe line of BasicGrey, and I used my handy dandy cricut to cut out some sweeeeet letters from the Doodletype cartridge. The pink flowers are Got Flowers Deux {primas} with little silver brads in the center. The vellum sticker {definition of a girl} is from EK success that I bought forever ago at AC Moore or Miche...

My Secret Project

Image
My daughter is turning 12 years old at the end of February. She loves all things crafty & would love nothing more than to spend the weekend just making cards and "stuff". She has her own school days album that I continually work on & a friends album that she works on. This spring we will be moving, we are all used to this being my husband is in the military. However, this move is going to be the hardest for my daughter. She has become so attached to her group of girlfriends, so I thought as one of her gifts this year I would make her an album. I emailed friends and family asking if they would make a page to put in the album as well. It is going to be a 6 in. x 6 in. album. Since this is a surprise gift, I have to work on it in secret, that means my time is limited to when Kendall is at school or sleeping. Today I finished the first page of the scrapbook. I am using a Stampin Up album, so all I need to do is slide in the pages, so I am not limited to what I can use, a...

Fun Weekend

Image
My son and husband went camping with the Cub Scouts this weekend. So my 11 yr old daughter had the house to ourselves. I pulled almost everything out of my craft room and put it in the dining room, I had to clear the buffet and add two more tables for everything to have a place. So I scrapbooked, made some cards and did a few altered items, it was FANTASTIC! So here is one of the layouts I did. I used the Secret Garden Simply Scrappin' kit from SU. I really love this kit. The stickers are not like normal stickers, these are really really thick and I like that. I am definately going to buy more of these sets!! The pictures are from when we still lived in South Carolina. It has been a little over a year since we have moved but I still miss Charleston everyday. It is such a beautiful city. I believe these were taken around Easter last year, and we had gone to a really nice restaraunt downtown. The kids looked so adorable in their outfits, and isn't Jacob's hat too cute!! So ...
