a layout

Image
Waahoo I did a layout :) its Friday night and I am trying to get in the mood to scrap book, so I started with some fun photos.  The pictures are of my son and his teacher (mrs. b) that we had to leave in Florida.  She was his Kindergarten teacher, then she decided to loop up to first grade the following year, so he got to be in her class for Kindergarten & First grade.  She became a part of our family.  Emily came to my children's birthday parties, became my shopping & bingo partner, she attended my husband's winging & truly loved my child.  We worked as a team to make sure Jacob didn't get bored with school (he is academically gifted) and went far and beyond what a teacher is required to do.  Anyhow, you get the picture :)  So this layout is going into my son's schoolday's album.   When I scrapbook, its for me, so I don't follow trends really, the pictures tell me what to do.   I happen to journal a lot.  Journaling is just as important as the pictu...

Hi!

Today's color challenge CC:186 over on Splitcoaststampers is Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze, I don't have any Baja Breeze, so I used Sage Shadow instead.  The color challenges help me out with getting started on a card, its almost cheating because its makes it too easy :)  I originally had some patterned paper where the larger white paper is, but it didn't look right so I replaced it with the white, it gives it a cleaner look. A few weeks ago I won the Floral Fantastical stamp set from Unity, its a fun & whimsy set so I choose the butterfly.  I colored it in with Copics, but it would look really pretty paper pieced to with some nice patterned paper (for those of you who don't like markers any more lol).  The sage looking ribbon is from Making Memories Passport collection of ribbon. So who else is excited that fall tv is back...my favorite show is Greys Anatomy! "hi" chocolate chip, really rust & sage shadow card stock, prism paper, Unity s...

I made this the other day & forgot to post it.  I had just finished my swaps and all of my paper was still out, so I made a card :)  I actually used my Prisma color pencils, I always forget to use them.  It also helped that the challenge on SCS on Thursday was to use pencils, but I really like how this turned out.   "Thanks" Prism, Cosmo Cricket, Unity Stamp Co. August Kit of the month, Cosmo Cricket ribbon, buttons, twine Does anyone have fun plans this weekend?  We are going to go see the San Diego Padres vs the Colorado Rockies later on today (Major League Baseball for you ladies who don't follow sports  >" Be Safe this Weekend!

PTI Swaps Done

Image
These are my Papertrey Ink swaps (held on SCS) that I just finished.  So now I need to get them mailed off.  I am now done with all of my swaps I had signed up for.  Things are going to start to get hectic here soon.   The base of the card is PTI, but the white & red card stock is from Prism & the designer paper is Cosmo Cricket.  I used Spiral Bouquet and Mixed Messages stamp sets (both PTI) and stamed them with Spring Moss, Ruby Red and Memento Brown ink.  I made little tags and tied them onto the Cosmo Cricket ribbon using brown twine.  The felt scalloped ribbon is also from Cosmo Cricket. Anyhow, I hope the ladies like them, I can't wait to see what everyone else created! "Bloom"

thinking of you

Image
Now that the kids and I are getting in the groove of schooling, I only have a limited time to make cards.  WT180 was to have tearing in the card.  I have found that when you tear designer paper it looks better because most brands have a white core, its not dyed all the way through.  The image is from Unity's Tiny Trinity, and the sentiment is from Papertreyink's Anniversary set.  I used Graphic 45 paper {i know again} I can't help myself lol, and Prism paper.  The ribbon is 5/8 in grosgrain ribbon from SU. Spotlighted at Unity & challenge cards

Image
The DTGD {dare to get dirty} challenges all have been really fun so far.  There were 3 challenges yesterday, but I have only done two of them so far.  I still have to do a watercolor card...eeck, not to good at that.   Guess what Unity has me spotlighted on their blog today, go over and check it out, you will find out a lot more about me in that post click here to go to the post or go to www.theunitystampco.com  They are also giving away Blog Candy! The first card is supposed to be a masculine card, I don't think its super masculine but it would work for a little boy.  The paper is bazzill and we r memory keepers and the stamps are from Unity.  I used prisma watercolor pencils and mineral spirits to blend. This second card is the challenge to embrace white space, and for it to be a one layer card basically.  So I made it simple simple and put a few antique brads in the corner to finish it off. So go over to the Unity blog and come back over here and tell me what you think?

getting dirty with the dirty girls

Image
So today the challenges started on SCS {the dirty girl challenges}.  Every year the Dirty Dozen {the best of the best stampers and SCS design team} have challenges and the fan club members get to play along.  Laurie challenged everyone to use vellum on a card today.  I had no vellum, so I ran to Michael's to pick some up.  I don't like my adhesive to show through on vellum {I have tried them all and they all show through} so I tend not to use it very much.  If any of you have any tricks or the best adhesive to use with vellum, please let me know >" If you participate in all of the challenges this week your name will be put in a hat to win a prize, I want a prize >" This second card, is the ribbon challenge that Jody { confessionsofaribbonaddict.blogspot.com } gave.  You needed to let ribbon influence your card.  This was really easy, well because I love ribbon.  I got some new {to me} vanilla grosgrain ribbon, I love this thickness it makes really pretty bows an...
