a layout

Waahoo I did a layout :) its Friday night and I am trying to get in the mood to scrap book, so I started with some fun photos.  The pictures are of my son and his teacher (mrs. b) that we had to leave in Florida.  She was his Kindergarten teacher, then she decided to loop up to first grade the following year, so he got to be in her class for Kindergarten & First grade.  She became a part of our family.  Emily came to my children's birthday parties, became my shopping & bingo partner, she attended my husband's winging & truly loved my child.  We worked as a team to make sure Jacob didn't get bored with school (he is academically gifted) and went far and beyond what a teacher is required to do.  Anyhow, you get the picture :)  So this layout is going into my son's schoolday's album.
When I scrapbook, its for me, so I don't follow trends really, the pictures tell me what to do.   I happen to journal a lot.  Journaling is just as important as the picture, in my opinion, and I try to always do it in my handwriting.  I have an album full of letters that my Grandmother wrote to me, & there is something to be said about the personal connection I feel reading the words she wrote with her hands.  To me it just means more.
This is a simple layout but my son happens to love it, so that's all that matters.
So I have a question.  What is your style of scrap booking?  I'm curious to hear about other people's thought process.

I don't scrapbook much (no kids, not much traveling, just not much to record, I guess . . .), but your page really caught my eye. I did the same K-first grade loop with my students and totally get what you wrote about. I had such tight bonds with my loopers and their families, too.

Wonderful layout! I like to hand write my journaling as much as possible too. As for my style..hmmm I call it free flow. I usually know what photos and feel I want and go from there. I often keep a journal of things I want to remember and pull my journaling from there. Okay...ramble...ramble...have a great night!

This is fantastic! I completely scrapbook for myself. It's a creative outlet, and it lets me showcase photos that I love in a way that makes me happy. I should use my own handwriting more. I journal a lot on the computer. I have many "family" albums, which is kinda messed up for the future, because I have two children, so who's going to get the albums? I should have thought about that way back when! I also have albums for each of the girls, but I don't keep up with them, but that's a goal for the future!
