Pre-release challenge

It's amost time to unwrap the latest batch of sets from Flourishes! And, to get ready, they are issuing you a challenge! Its called ... the Favorite Things challenge. How does it work? Be inspired in some way by the words of the decades old Christmas favorite from the Sound of Music! Be sure to tell us which line of the music inspired your card!

Here's just a bit of the lyrics....

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

For my card, I took inspiration from the "brown paper bags tied up with strings"  The card base is a red card stock, then I layered it with kraft, which is the "brown paper bag".  Then I tied string around the kraft with red twine for the "tied up with string", part.  Since I plan on sending this card out for Christmas, I didn't want a lot of layers or bulk.  I do not like putting more than one stamp on a card, it just gets to be too expensive.  I added some Kaiser pearls, but if I were to mass produce this card, I wouldn't put those on, instead I would probably round the corners.  I hope you decide to play along, one lucky winner will win all five new releases!!

"warm wishes"

Well Latisha...your card is so much prettier than a brown paper package tied up with string :) Love the warmth of the Kraft with the pop of red. Perfect Christmas mailer card!

Fabulous idea for the challenge, Latisha! I love how you share cards with the idea of easy mailing in mind. I mean, let's make them usable whenever possible, right? You know, there's something about a brown paper package tied up with string... It's one of my favorite things, too!
