Fun cards and challenges
I am not one to usually combine challenges on SCS but I had to on this one, I really feel I need to improve on my watercolor skills, they are seriously lacking. Anyhow Christine's challenge was to make a card and watercolor on it. So I started on this Iris from Flourishes, I would like to say this is the only Iris I colored, but that would not be the truth. So finally I liked this one, and I sat it aside. I went and saw Jenn's challenge, and it was an inspiration piece, and I knew I was going to use the Damask background {Flourishes} so after I started with Jenn's card, the Iris that was going to be its own card, found a new home. So I didn't plan on combining them it just happened. The base is either PTI or SU cardstock, I don't remember {if I wasn't being lazy I would get up and look and feel it, you know the difference right away, but I like sitting on the couch lol} The green paper is from Bazzill, the ribbon is from May Arts and the Su stylized hardware I colored with a sharpy, it matched better being black. The way I watercolored this was with Prisma water color pencils. Once the image was dry I put Diamond Glaze over it, and as it was starting to dry I curled the edges of the flower and stem with a pencil, thats how its curling. To show the curling, I popped the image up with dimmensionals.
This card was made using this weeks color challenge on SCS, river rock, very vanilla & soft sky. I didn't have any soft sky, so I used bashful blue instead. Its a very simple card but I really like it. The dp is from the Basic Grey Lily Kate line. The stacked coffee cups is one stamp, I stamped the image onto the paper, cut it out and then used dimmensionals to pop it up so it would go over the ribbon. The sentiment is from the same stamp set {coffee with friends by Flourishes}. It didn't look finished so I paper pierced around the sentiment, I think it gives it a nice touch.
