Fun Technique Tuesday Color Challenge (prizes involved!)
Hello!
Do any of you like Technique Tuesday stamps?
Did you know that every month, they host a challenge over at SCS?
They do! (and they give away free stamps!)
This month, the challenge is to color. Make a card (or layout) and use crayons, markers, pencils, glimmer mist (anything really), then it is up to you on what you color. It can be, the image, the background, maybe some ribbon or a brad. Easy peasy right?
If you decide to play, you still have one more week. The deadline to upload is April 30th. Make sure when you upload your card to SCS, that you use the keyword TTSCS14, so we can check out your awesome-ness. Plus did I mention you can win a free stamp set? Sweetness!
I decided to make a card, and used Copic markers as my color medium. I am by no means an expert at using Copic markers, but I did a short tutorial on how I colored in the bear.
Gather your supplies
(stamps, ink, card stock, dies)
I pick out my die template based on my stamped image. I like my image to fit nicely in the die-cut.
Grab some Copic Markers
(Y23, Y35, YR04, R14, R24, R27, R29, R39, R59, W02, 0)

I started out by laying down a base of R14, then realized I wanted it a little darker, and switched it up to R24. The darker shades of red that I used were, R27, R29, R39 & R59. I mostly used these along the edges of the arm of the bear, and the bottom of the legs. When laying down color from different shades, a little trick is to blend them before moving on. Blend, blend, blend, but don't forget to use a little bit of contrast too. That will make your blending "pop" a little. The tummy and face were easy to do, I really just used Y23 for most of it. I just shaded using the same marker, and added the darker marker where the stamp made it obvious for me (don't you just love it when shadows are already built into the image!) I didn't want the bear to appear to be floating it in air, so I grounded him by creating a shadow around the bottom, kind of like he was sitting on the ground. I "prepped" where I wanted to color by using my clear blending marker, I guess "primed" is a better word. Then I went over the area with W02, and blended again with the clear blending pen, just to soften the edge a bit.
Once my coloring was finished, it was time to put it onto a card. I really had my husband in mind while I was creating this card, so I didn't want to "frou frou" it up. Meaning no embellishments.
I hope you decide to play along! Let me know if you do, so I can see your beautiful work!
