Card Creations 8 blog hop
Welcome to the top ten Card Creation 8 Blog Hop!
As soon as this issue hit the book shelves, I went to my nearest book store and bought a copy. I bought a copy, knowing one would be arriving in the mail soon. I could not wait for my mail, this baby needed to be mine. Why you ask? This is a special issue, the Card Creations 8 special issue. This issue is divided up into sections, such as, Get Well, Thank You, Mother's Day, Christmas, Baby, Graduation, and Friendship, just to name a few (there are more). All of your bases are covered, and it is all cards...all cards people! 273 cards to be exact. Do you know my very first published card was just last year when Card Creations 7 came out? I think I only submitted one, and they picked it up. When that acceptance letter arrived in my inbox, I couldn't believe it. So, a year later, to be in the Top Ten blog hop is very, very surreal. Now, lets talk about the Dear Lizzy line by American Crafts.
It is girly. It has a fantastic color scheme. Is so very inventive, especially with the self adhesive fabric sheets and don't even get me started on all of the embellishments! The Thickers, felt stickers, the flair buttons, trims, rubons, and stickers. Did I mention Thickers? Glittery Thickers? They make glittery thickers!! I digress, I got a little excited there for a second. What I mean to say through all my mumbo jumbo, is that this line was well thought out, well executed, makes me smile and was oh so fun to play with! The Dear Lizzy line was co-created by American Crafts and the talented Elizabeth Kartchner. Her inspiration for this line, came from an outdoor tea party.
Making your own embellishment is extremely popular right now. So, using some of the fabric sheets, a few stickers and a flair button, I made some fun flower embellishments. Do you see what is says on the flair button? It says, "Thinking of you makes me smile." How cute is that!
Materials used:
American Crafts white & grey textured card stock
Dear Lizzy Snapdragon Soiree fabric finish paper
Dear Lizzy Tickled Tulip Fabric Finish
Dear Lizzy Smiley Flair adhesive sticker
Dear Lizzy Remarks sticker
Dear Lizzy Clover Bliss Glitter Thickers
Spellbinders S4-114 Standard Circles Large
For this card, I really didn't have too much of a plan.
I was drawn to the different heart embellishments, and wanted to make a lovey dovey card. Plus, I was trying to figure out how to use the white glittery thickers, and really make them pop on a card. I think using the kraft card stock, along with the darker pattern paper & embellishments helped that happen. Even though, I think that super cute heart felty may have stolen the show on this card.
Materials used:
Kraft card stock
Dear Lizzy White Bliss Glittery Thickers
Dear Lizzy Coffee Bliss Mixed Accent Thickers
Dear Lizzy Humble Honeybee pattern paper
Dear Lizzy Swallowtail Social pattern paper
corner rounder
yellow sakura glaze pen
I love a nice card made on white card stock.
They look so clean, and everything just pops.
For this card, I cut strips of some of the pattern paper, and created a rainbow/gradient of sorts. The framed sticker is so cool, and I wanted to try an emulate it a little bit. If you have a lot of scraps hanging around, this is the perfect kind of card to make, it give you the ability to use them up.
Materials Used:
American Crafts white textured card stock
American Crafts foam adhesive
Dear Lizzy Feather Dimensional Phrases
Dear Lizzy Sweet Strawberry pattern paper
Dear Lizzy Humble Honeybee pattern paper
Dear Lizzy Friendly Fern pattern paper

I will stop at three cards, although, I made a lot more than that :)
Have a fun blog hop.
