Birthday wishes

Hey everyone!  I've been MIA since Friday, however I was in a heap of paper work.  My kids are finished with school for the year & they are going to be evaluated this week.  So, I was busy getting their portfolio of work completed.  Then on Saturday and Sunday I had the worst headache I have ever had in my life, I think it was a migraine, it was awful.  I'm still feeling blah, but at least my head is no longer throbbing.  Oh and for the cherry on top, the school I can see from my house, is shut down for the next few days because the CDC believes a child with the Swine Flu goes there, and the school district has to disinfect the entire school before the kids are able to come back.  Kind of scary.
Anyhow,...
I have this package of really cool textured notecards, that I just stare at.  Its by Hero Arts and I bought it years ago, so I busted it out and made a card with it.  I stamped the flowers (Friends set from PTI), colored the flowers in and then cut them out using sharp scissors.  Before adhering the flowers down, I ran satin ribbon around the cardstock, added a tag and button to the center of the bow, and tied it in place with twine.  Using the Slice machine I cut out the tag, and then trimmed it to size.  An easier way to make this card would be to directly stamp on the cardstock, cutting the flowers out took a little bit of time.  I hope all of you had a great weekend, and have a wonderful Monday.  Mine is going to be a busy one.

Beautiful! I love the different shades of pink in the flower, and textured CS is so nice. Hope you feel better soon and try not to worry too much about the swine flu, I think it will turn out to be a tempest in a teapot.

Isn't it funny how we buy this stuff and then just let it sit? I have some of these very same notecards which I've rarely used. Of course, there are lots of things in my stamp room that cannot possibly be used before they're old. I'd have to go on an impossible stamping spree... I love your beautiful flower and perfect satin ribbon. The colors you used on your flower are just fabulous!

School closed here for a day or two, also. You know, before everyone started getting flu shots, flu epidemics were not uncommon. We'd have one every year. I even remember when swine flu went around in the 70's. Most people have no reason to fear the flu, but it's humanitarian to try to stop it from spreading and putting weak or immunocompromised people at risk. We do what we can, I guess.

Hey! Congrats on your new summer DT spot!
