a few layouts & other cool things

Image
Here are a few layouts I did last night with some new yummy paper & Unity stamps.  Did you know they make stamps for stampers & scrapbookers?!?!!  So cool IMHO (in my honest opinion).  Jeanne put out a challenge to create something with the word "sweet" so this is what I came up with.  This is my children and I on Pensacola Beach, FL this year on Easter.  My husband was trying to take a picture of us, but we were just laughing, so this other wise imperfect picture is so perfect to me!  The stamp I used is called a Postcard & a memory, I stamped it and then cut it out.  This stamp is huge about 6 inches or so & its awesome!  The felt stickers are Thickers. Quick question, how do you photograph your layouts?  That has to be one of the hardest things ever!!  Give me some tricks, pointers, whatever, cuz I need them :) Isn't this paper fun!  Its from Rusty Pickle, I love that name, but what is a rusty pickle?  Again I used some stamps from Unity.  Those trees a

XOXO color challenge

Image
Have any of you played along with Kristina Werner's color challenge before?  I have not, so I decided to give it a whirl tonight.  This week's color combo is:  Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Whisper White & Sage Shadow.  Its a fun and unusual color combination, that works.  I prefer to take my pictures in natural light, but since its passed sundown, this will have to do.  If you want to check it out click here .   The stamps I used are Open to Love and Love Nest from Flourishes LLC My Mother in law always puts xoxo when she signs her cards, so I thought this would be a perfect card to send her.  She put a Halloween card in the mail for both of the kids with $5 in them.  My kids love getting mail especially with money in them LOL. "xoxo" sage shadow, ruby red, whisper white, pumpkin pie, FLLC stamps, copic markers, Cosmo Cricket felt ribbon

HOPE

This weeks Wed. Unity Challenge is to Use Pink and to have HOPE H...Use a sentiment having to do with HOPE O...Put some ribbon ON your card, think pink P...Use something PINK E...Embellish with something that starts with an "m" for mammogram If you happen to play along use the key words USC10 & Unity when you upload your card so it shows up in the Unity gallery & there is a thread to post it on here I used MINI bling for my "m" thing, used a hope sentiment, my ribbon and the pink...check, card complete.  I used Floral Fantastical, I've only stamped it up once I think, and its far too pretty to be ignored.  I used my stamp a majig to line up the flowers & stamped them twice, to create a row of flowers.  I colored them in with my trusty Copic markers. Cards for a cause and a SU only card

Image
Here are some of the cards that I sent to Chemo Angels yesterday, I sent 28 in all.  Hopefully they will make someone smile and brighten their day.  Great cause, so glad I sent them. Are you holding on to your seats?  Check this out, this is 95% Stampin Up only!  Thats right I used my SU stamps.  The poor things have been gathering dust for quite a while now, so I brought this set out and gave it some inky love.  I bought this set when it came out in last years mini, its in the new catalog now.  Todays color challenge on SCS was pixie pink, kiwi kiss & tangerine tango.  The twill is old olive, but its really close to kiwi, so it works.  I got nibs and reinkers to color in the snowman's hat and scarf.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to get the lacy border on the bottom.  I used Eclipse masking tape and my stamp a majig to position the trees.  I dedicate this card to Alex, my SU queen. Quick & Easy cards with kids

Image
So today I realized that I did not finish making my Halloween cards.  I made a few already, but I needed more.  The kids sat down with me and we had arts n crafts time.  I only stamped on one of these cards, but all of them just have paper, ribbon and stickers.  Cute right!  These are the cards my children are sending out to some special people.  The one on the far left, is one I made for WCMD, thats how I got the idea of just using stickers. So if you are running out of time, go through your stash of stickers, find some cute paper & there you have your Halloween cards, recruit your kids too, it will be fun.

layout of my baby

So my son's birthday is coming up soon, so I'm feeling a little sad about him growing up.  I had a very difficult labor with him (we both almost died) and it was suggested that I never get pregnant again.  I am so happy with my two children, but somewhere deep down, I have never gotten over it not being my decision.  So I try to cherish all of my children's moments.  I know I'm really sappy, but I get like this around their birthdays.   A few weeks ago when we met Jess on base, Jacob took Jess aside and said "Dad, when I grow up I want to be just like you"  is that not the sweetest thing ever!  We have a really close relationship with our children, I hope that never changes.  Anyhow, I used white Prism paper as my base for the layout & then used some Making Memories NoteWorthy paper & die cuts for some color.  The little scalloped border is a Unity stamp that I got in my last kit of the month.  I used my stamp-a-majig to line it up perfectly. OCTOBER PTI BLOG HOP

Image
This month's theme for the PTI blog hop, is Polka Dots.  To create any project using polka dots.  My son's birthday is a few weeks away, so I am starting to pick up gifts for him.  He loves video games and movies, so here is one of his presents, a little gamer package.  A few Wii games, Iron Man the movie and some new DS stylises (sp).  I will add some popcorn and candy to it, but its still to warm to keep chocolate laying around, today its in the 80's! I made a coordinating card too.  Since this is for a boy, I couldn't go overboard with the polka dots, so I kept it more subtle.  The dark chocolate polka dot ribbon on the card really make it pop, so I am happy with my results. Here is a list of supplies I used for this project: large white Gable box Borders & Corners mini stamp set My Puny Valentine stamp set Trajan Monogram edition stamp set PTI Anniversary stamp set Pond Life stamp set kraft cardstock poppy cardstock stampers select white cardstock Ripe Avocado P

Here is another card I am sending to Chemo Angels.  This one is more Post Office friendly.  Simple but pretty & I hope it makes someone smile.  Because this is Breast Cancer awareness month I added in pink to my card. What is everyone doing this weekend?  I plan on relaxing a little, getting some scrapbook pages done, some cards finished & sleeping in!!!  Can I get an AMEN for Saturday mornings lol!! Happy Wednesday!  Here is my card for the Unity Wednesday Challenge (I combined it with today's sketch challenge too).  Listed are the rules for this weeks Challenge if you want to play along: 1.  Use ribbon 2.  Use something clear; acetate, transparency, button, crystal effects etc... 3.  Use something from your last Unity order I used clear embossing powder, to emboss my leaf image.  Got the ribbon & used the Gratitude=Joy stamp set I got in the mail last week. I added pink because I plan on sending this to Chemo Angels, scroll down to a previous post and you will find info on this cause. "day dream" gratitude=joy, may arts ribbon, primas, clear embossing powder, PTI paper

Birthday Wishes

Image
One of my friends {since we were 14} is having a birthday this week, so I needed  a nice but quick card to send her.  It made it even easier because I used Julee T's mojo57 sketch (you can find her blog on my blog roll to the right)  I made my own dp, using a flourish from Inkadinkado & some Colorbox ink.  I also inked up my PTI anniversary set for the sentiment along with a borders and corners set for the dotted square.  This is my favorite kind of card to make, simple but pretty and you can't go wrong with kraft, red & white, its impossible.  Go try and see, it will be beautiful :) "Birthday Wishes" kraft, poppy & stampers select white paper, inkadinkado stamps, PTI stamps, PTI ribbon, rectangle nestie

Going Pink

Image
As most of you know October is Breast Cancer awareness month.  I am donating this card to Chemo Angels, SCS is collecting cards until November to go to this great cause.  You can find more about it here Its a really great cause & I am a stamper, I make cards, this is what I do.  A Chemo Angel is someone who volunteers to encourage someone who is battling cancer & they must send a card once a week.  So SCS is donating all the cards collected to help make that job a little easier.  There are some amazing people in this country and I think a lot of times we forget about that.  I thought it was only fitting to use the Melissa Frances breast cancer designer paper, I love it, its just so pretty.  The image and sentiment is from Flourishes.  Its a pitcher of lemonade.  If you don't get the pitcher and the "celebrate" sentiment, let me explain.  When you are going through health issues, its sometimes good to remind yourself to celebrate the "today" & the pi

Cool Photo

Image
So I have Photoshop Elements & really need to take a class or something on how to use it to its fullest potential, because its not the easiest user friendly application in the world.  Well with that said, I was playing around with some photos and look what I did.  Is that cool or what!  How its all black and white in the background but the kids and the table are in color.  This may seem super easy to some of you, but I am just learning and I think this is UBER cool lol.  Have a fabulous Sunday.  Off to try and create something worth sharing :)

just a few cards

Image
I'm getting my mojo up to speed and ready for the holidays.  Are any of you finished with your Christmas Cards?  I have not started, maybe I should start this weekend?  This year I am not going to just make one holiday card, I get bored pretty fast.  Last year I loved my xmas cards, but I lost them, I put them in a Christmas bag for when I was going to mail them.  Well someone didn't look and see what was in the bag, and they put the bag under the Christmas tree, where it blended in and looked like a present.  I was so upset because I was not about to make more, then on Christmas morning I found them.  I was happy and sad at the same time. Any ways... I got the Forest of Trees stamp set from Flourishes LLC (they are a stamp company and have an online boutique www.flourishes.org ) I can tell I am going to use this set a lot, the trees are perfect & I have so many ideas running through my head. I used one of the trees in my first card, it just fit perfect with the Memory Box

Cool Holder thingy

Image
Ok I had to mail a few things today and I needed to make a little folder of sorts to put some pictures and stuff in, so I got my scorpal out and made two scores & walla I had my folder.  So I needed to make/alter a gift for someone & I don't really have time to do that right now, so I decided to make another folder, dress it up pretty and make a note set to go inside.   I stamped that big flourish stamp in versamark & then put clear embossing powder over it, got my handy dandy heat gun & heat set the powder.  In real life this technique looks really cool & makes your project look so yummy!  That was the fancy part of this gift, the rest is easy peasy, just simple stamping.  I did put some red sticky tape under the ribbon so that when the folder opens the ribbon doesn't fall out. I think I am going to make a ton of these for Christmas presents.  The cards I put inside are super simple post office friendly cards, only one stamp needed. Gift Card Set real red,

Stair step card

Image
So I made this a few days ago, but didn't put it on my blog (posted it on scs).  Its called a stair step card.  They really give  Wow effect but they are not too functional.  That is my goal before Xmas, is to somehow make this functional, meaning finding a place to write a message.  I'm thinking a tag behind one of the layers.  You can find the directions on how to make this on Splitcoaststampers, its basically a lot of scoring, which creates the stairs and then you can add more stuff :)  I used Christmas paper from last year, Unity stamps, PTI stamps & some pretty satin ribbon. So my sweet daughter started a blog & has posted some of her cards.  Go over and give her some love :) www.kendallskraftkorner.blogspot.com

Masculine Card Challenge

Image
Hi there bloggers :)  So today is Wednesday and that means another Unity Challenge, this week Lisa was talking all kinds of mess that her husband can make the best card lol.  So a bunch of the girls are having their husbands/boyfriends whoever, make cards (hubby's challenge).  My husband is not going to make a card, (he has made cards for me in the past, but he isn't going to make one for fun lol).  Remember he is a Pilot in the military I would hate for him to make a card and someone in his squadron see it, next thing you know he has a crazy call sign lol, which would be my fault & then it would affect my craft spending & we don't want that to happen.  Anyhow, so for us who's significant other will not make a card, our challenge is to make a masculine card.   I like frilly girly stuff and yummy luscious ribbon & bows, so making a masculine card, is a challenge for me.  I think I did ok.  Right?  This is masculine right?  Now that I'm looking at it, the

Recipe swap

Image
Here is the other 1/2 of my swap, we had to do a 6x6 recipe page.  I did Nutella Banana Crescent Rolls {{so yummy}}.  This is my first recipe swap, so if its ugly let me know, I'm not sure what to do with them.  This is really plain & simple, but it works.  If you want the recipe I will put it at the bottom of this post. Nutella Banana Rolls Jar of Nutella (can be found by the Peanut Butter) Pack of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls 1 Banana Powdered Sugar heat oven to 350. separate rolls, you should have 8 put a blob (tbsp) of nutella in the center put a slice of banana on top of nutella roll up starting from short end make sure all of the nutella is properly covered & not peeking out place on cookie sheet seam side down (if you are using a tin cookie sheet spray with pam first) bake 12-15 min or until golden brown sprinkle powdered sugar over top serve & enjoy **Nutella is like a chocolate/hazlenut type of spread**

Joy

Image
So Chris hosted a PTI swap (yesterday was the last day to sign up) and here is my card that I made for it.  I used Snowflake Serenade for my stamps, they didn't get enough love last Christmas :)  The colors are really earthy, instead of the bright green and red you normally see in a holiday card.  I can't wait to see what all of the other ladies came up with!  They are a great group of swappers, this is round 9 & most of us have swapped together since round 1. Weekend in Pictures

Inspired by Mizue Hirano

Image
Today is the inspiration challenge over on SCS you can find the information here. Mizue Hirano is a Japanese watercolor artist, so this week there is more of an artsy feel to my card.  The artist uses a lot of pinks & oranges, so I took inspiration from that, also there was a simplistic feel to the work, so I did a one layer card.  It felt a little naked, so I added some ribbon & paper pierced the bottom left corner.  I feel like its balanced now :)  I hope you all have a great Saturday!

I'm super busy today so no card :) I have to go get ready to go hang out with my hubby's squadron at the 19 hole at the golf course, this means drinking lol. So yesterday Jen tagged me, I have to give 7 random things about myself. 1.  I have more purses & flip flops that one person will ever need 2.  I like oatmeal, but hate malt o meal & grits 3.  I sometimes get a little crazy when I drink lol 4.  I can't wait to move to Florida 5.  I hate doing dishes 6.  I drive a Chevy Suburban 7.  I love coffee

Unity Challenge

Image
Today is another Unity Challenge Wednesday, this week we (anyone who wants to play) are to make a card but it cannot be a standard size card (4 1/2 x 5 1/2) other than that it can be any size or shape you want.  I made a 7 1/2 x 4 inch card, its kind of long, but I like it. Remember if you play along, upload your card to SCS and put in USC7 in the keyword.  Tomorrow is hip-hop Thursday, where Unity Stamp Co. gives away over $300 in product every week (isn't that bananas!)  All you have to do is show up on the Unity Forum & they pick random winners & have games, not too mention all the awesome deals (more like steals) offered.   Don't forget to check out what all the other ladies did, you can find their blogs on the right. Today's color challenge CC187 is to use chocolate chip, kiwi & tangerine tango, OK this combo is so not me, but I played along anyways.  My secret big sis sent me a pack of the new in colors (thanks!) so with out her I wouldn't have been able to play along.  I do really really like the image, I just ordered two of My Favorite Things stamps by artist Anne LaPointe, they are so cute!  I colored in the image with Copic markers to try and match the color scheme, the image and the ribbon is my favorite part of this card, everything else just isn't me.  I guess that is my advice, its good to stretch yourself and step outside of the box, it makes you grow.  Oh and the sketch is by Jen Del Muro.

Weekend Progress

Image
I am very proud of myself for actually getting some pages done, especially with Saturday being WCMD.  So when we started home schooling, I was worried how I was going to get this year into their school days album, but because we go on so many day trips its not too hard.  I need to remember to take more pictures of the kids while they are doing their school work.  So the first layout will go into my daughters album & the second into my son's.   I made the lay outs the same, only because I was being lazy & didn't want to have to think of another one lol.
