Merry Blooms

Image
Who is ready for some Christmas in July? There is a new kit from Taylored Expressions called Merry Blooms. It has stencils, red rubber stamps, clear stamps, dies and more! For this first card, I started by stamping the leaves onto lime zest cardstock using a Misti tool. There are a few ways to get vivid ink onto colored cardstock. You can either use oxide inks, or use a pigmented white ink, let it dry and then go over the white ink again with the ink color of your choice. For both techniques, using a Misti tool is necessary for perfect stamp placement. Once the leaves were stamped, the poinsettia stencil was used to ink blend the red flowers. Using the clear stamps and coordinating red ink, the stems of the flowers were stamped over the stenciled flowers. The sentiment was stamped in black ink, then to make the card pop, a white pen was used on some of the leaves. For this card I wanted to use the poinsettia flowers from the stencil to create a bold rainbow Christmas card. I would ...

Hello Sweet Stuff

Image
Hello friends!  It is safe to say its summer, and everyone has the temperatures to prove it. I hope everyone is staying cool if you are able to. Taylored Expressions has a small Mini Slim release today. The mini slim line is wildly popular. Its such a cute size of a card and so fun to create with. For this card, I started by stenciling ink onto the card base with a blender brush. Next, using the Thin Frame die and poblano cardstock, a few of the rectangle diecuts were adhered to the card base using glue. The sentiment was stamped in Oreo ink onto the card base. Then the images were stamped onto sugar cube cardstock, colored in with copic markers, cut out and adhered to the card base using foam adhesive. To finish, little black gems were adhered.  Look at those cute little fruit stamps?! Gah, so cute!! Is there anything cuter than mythical creatures, especially in stamp form? I say no, no there is not. The Little Critters stamp set, now has a coordinating die set! Whi...

Very Cherry Hello

Image
The kits that Taylored Expressions curates are always so good! This month is no exception. The kit is called Very Cherry and its oh so cute! Before making this card, the color combination running through my head was red/pink, and I wanted to create a patterned paper look. Using the misti tool, the background stamp was stamped onto cupcake cardstock. Using red and green inks, the cherries and the leaves were stamped in. The stencil was adhered over the stamped panel, and using blender brushes, red ink was softly applied. The stamped panel was then adhered to the card front with foam adhesive. Using red and white cardstock and the circle layering dies in the kit, the cardstock was diecut. Before adhering the dies together, the sentiment was stamped in Oreo ink, along with a few hearts in cherry pop ink. Using the clear stamp, a single cherry was stamped and colored in with copic markers then die cut out with the coordinating die. To embellish, a few crystals were added with glue....

Hello friends! We are in the middle of June and it is full summer here in Florida, the humidity is thick right now. One definitely needs sunglasses when going outside here, its bright! Are you ready for a super fun Taylored Expressions release? This week its all about summer, and staying cool.  For this bright and bold green and pink card, I started by stamping the Suns Out Background stamp onto lime zest cardstock, then stenciled in the sunglass shades in a few sunglasses. The large sunglasses were diecut and stamped in sugar cube, lollipop, and lime zest. On the solid pink sunglasses, at the top glue was adhered then glitter was adhered. Both sunglasses were adhered to the card using foam adhesive. The sentiment was stamped onto sugar cube cardstock, cut out and then adhered with foam adhesive. To embellish, black drippy drops were added.       This was a fun card to create. Using the misti tool, I was able to create fun ombre stamped sentiments using pin...

Celebrate Freedom

The 4th of July release from Taylored Expressions is making me excited for summer. There is just something about seeing red, white and blue that puts me in my patriotic feelings.  After scoring and trimming red cardstock to create a card base, the Uncle Sam cling and clear background was stamped in clear ink. The full circle image was stamped in blue ink onto grey cardstock, then colored in with a red copic marker. The image was diecut with a circle die, then adhered to the card using foam adhesive. The celebrate sentiment was stamped in black ink onto white cardstock, cut out with scissors then adhered to the card using foam adhesive. To embellish, a red and white twine bow was added.  The Sketched Flag background stamp, paired with The Inside Scoop Freedom sentiments is the perfect duo to create a bold card. By using the Misti tool, these were created so quickly. After creating the card bases. the cards were secured in the Misti. The blue and red ink were stamped mu...

Interactive Thank You

Image
Do you like interactive cards? Taylored Expressions has made this theater fold interactive die kit, so so easy. You will need to diecut the outer layer, and two inside pieces. But included are pieces already diecut and scored, ready to use.  After die cutting sugar cube cardstock to create the top layer. Using watermelon, candy corn and pinapple inks, the diecut panel was ink blended to create a gradient of red/orange/yellow. A stencil was placed over the panel and ink blended again to create a design.  The thank you sentiment was stamped, then diecut to place over the pre cut and scored diecut pieces. Then using the same stencil and ink colors, to create the same pattern.  When you pull the sides of the card apart, there is a secret area to place another sentiment/image. So fun! I am loving these big bold sentiments with coordinating dies. They really can add that extra zing to a card when you stamp the sentiment onto colored cardstock and diecut it out.  To start,...

Happy Birthday Technique Tuesday

Image
How fun to help celebrate Technique Tuesday's birthday ! Since its a birthday, we need birthday cards. Up first I have a bold and graphic card. The card front has tone on tone stamping with the balloons to create a subtle background. Then the "happy" image was stamped in black ink, colored in with copic markers, cut out and adhered to the cardfront using foam adhesive. Little half pearls were added with glue to embellish the card, and ground it a little bit.  The card base was created with a light blue cardstock, then stamped a few times using a watermark ink. A white panel was trimmed, "happy birthday" was stamped in black ink, and the panel was adhered to the card front using foam adhesive. The image was stamped in black ink onto white cardstock, colored in with copic markers, then cut out with scissors before being adhered above the sentiment with foam adhesive. If you cannot send flowers to someone for their birthday, the next best thing is a handmade card w...
