Paper Crafts HC&M vol 5 Blog Hop: 12 Designers of Christmas

Welcome to the 12 Designers of Christmas blog hop, brought to you from the fine folks at Paper Crafts Magazine.
This week Paper Crafts is celebrating the special issue, Holiday Cards & More vol 5, that just hit news stands.  This is the magazine issue that will get your creative juices started into creating some fabulous Christmas items, like cards, bags, tags, home decor and more!  What a better way to end this kick off week, than a blog hop with 12 never been seen before holiday projects.  Did any of you get the Go to Sketches special issue?  Well, you know how beautiful that issue what photographed?  That is exactly how HC&M vol 5 was photographed as well.  So each project really shines as you flip through this issue.  There really is something for everyone.  Cards, got them.  Bags, oh yes!  Gift ideas, so clever!  Tags, yep got those too!  Home decor, yep!  In one word this issue is awesome-sauce, it is my word for something beyond awesome.  Awesome with sauce on it, like chocolate sauce.  How can something awesome with chocolate sauce all over it be bad?  It can't.
Do you have your copy yet?
(click on the cover, it will bring you to a site to purchase one)
Do you see that card in the right bottom hand corner?
That is MY card on the COVER!!!
Beyond elated is the way to describe the feeling.

Each designer was given a template, to create a never been seen before project.  I was given a template to make a box.   The box template I am recreating, is the Pink Holiday box (pg.88) by Leslie Webster.  To see that template head on over to the Paper Crafts Connection blog, they are sharing all three templates the designers are using today, with their readers. Scroll down below for the materials I used on my projects.

Make sure to go to each of the 12 designers blogs as well as the Paper Crafts Connection and Moxie Fab World blogs, and leave a comment.  Each blog has a give away!  So that is 14 chances to win!

Thanks to the handy dandy template I was given to use, this box was easy peasy to create.  Once my bottom & top part of the box were put together, it was time to fancy it up a bit.  I cut/embossed pretty glitter pattern paper from MME, using a Spellbinders Classic Lace Border Grand Borderabilities, and then glued it along the edge of the box (the top box).  I then adhered the same pattern paper to the top of the box.  To hide the crease, and because I love ribbon, I glued satin ribbon around the box.  Next, I stamped a music note label stamp (from GinaK) with memento ink onto kraft paper.   So after I stamped the image, I cut/embossed it with the Labels Sixteen, which coordinates perfectly with the stamp.  Is that not fabulous or what?!  Fabulous!!  Next, I distressed the edges a bit, then adhered the label to the top of the box using foam tape.  I have been holding on to this most beautiful package of Prima glittered holly pieces, so I took two of them, tied them together with satin ribbon, and adhered them to the label.  I realized I needed to add a sentiment, so I stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment (GinaK), then cut/embossed it using a Spellbinders Fancy Tags die template, distressed it a bit, added a few pearls & adhered it to the label using foam tape.  You cannot give away an empty box, so I also created some coordinating tags to go inside.  I hope you are enjoying this fun blog hop!  Don't forget to leave a comment to win.

Now I get to give away a copy of Holiday Cards & More Vol. 5.
Leave a comment answering this question:
What is your favorite Holiday tradition?
comments close Sunday Sept 19th at Midnight (MDT)

My favorite tradition is ... on Christmas morning my parents hide all the stockings (all five) in crazy places and we then have to find them. (I think it was a ploy to get an hour more of sleep!) My dad has taped one to the bottom side of the dining room table, stuffed them in the deepest places of the couch, inside the refrigerator... you get the idea! We are still doing this ... I am 29 and the youngest in our family of 5 is 18. This year we will add 2 stockings for my children! Crazy fun!

I have two favorites - our Christmas Eve dinner of fondue and Prime rib and making gingerbread houses every year with my children. thanks for the chance!
Fabulous project- I need to get going-LOL. I am so glad you shared your talent with us.
My favorite Christmas tradition is "Oplatki". These wafers are like Communion wafers, but are not consecrated. They are usually rectangular in shape and embossed with Christmas images.
Family members and friends break off a small piece of the opłatek wafer and give it to one another along with a blessing. Breaking off and exchanging part of opłatek with someone is symbol of forgiveness between two people and is meant to remind participants of the importance of Christmas, God, and family.

What a DARLING box! I love using kraft paper in my projects too. Our favorite holiday family tradition would have to be stockings. My kids are in their 30's and we STILL exchange stockings. Every year we try to come up with new and fun things to put in them (handmade slippers, silly toys, ornaments, a special candy bar, etc.) and then on Christmas morning after our holiday meal we exchange them and the laughter and giggles begin.

Beautiful! I could see homemade candies tucked away inside, just like Godiva!
And my favorite tradition started a few years ago when I got tired of never really being able to celebrate with just my hubby and kids; rush here, rush there! So I'm selfish and claimed Christmas Eve as our night, no one else allowed. I cook a huge turkey dinner(my only turkey of the year) and then we all get into our jammies and open our gifts from each other, watch A Christmas Story, read "Twas the Night Before Christmas, and then send the kiddies to bed, while my hubby and I clean up because as we tell our kids "Santa doesn't visit a dirty house". Provides a perfect cover for us being up later.

We don't really have a tradition. But what I do every year is get Christmas jammies for my kiddos that they get to open on Christmas Eve to wear to bed that night. Works great if you want to colour coordinate for Christmas pics the next day... ;)

The baking of the cakes has become such a tradition that my sister, daughters and granddaughters all make sure they know when I am baking so that they can arrange to come over and help. It's a fun time for the girls in the family and we make memories to cherish forever.

Very nice project, thank you for sharing it! My favorite tradition is simple ... just rotating out the everyday plates, bowls and mugs for our many sets of Christmas ware. Just eating off holiday plates for every meal is enough to put us all in the holiday spirit!

This is such a nice project. It reminds me of a highland Christmas. Our tradition is to get a brass ornament every year and engrave the year on it. Congrats on the cover!

Lovely box! Our favorite tradition is the arrival of our very own North Pole Elf (Fred)! He always shows up Thanksgiving night with Christmas jammies and other little goodies for the girls. He watches over them all month and reports back to Santa each night on their behavior. On their December birthdays, he brings a small present, and sometimes leaves notes to remind the girls to be good or Santa will bring coal. They are so excited to hunt for Fred each morning. Fred has even been known to knock over the Christmas tree on his flight back to our house!

My fav. tradition is: gift wrapping at the local mall on Christmas eve, and donating all the proceeds to a local charity. My mother and I have done that for years, and it has become a new favorite tradition of mine!
And I LOVE your little box. Too cute!

It is more to do with preparing for the holidays... my daughter and I go through the ideas we have collected over the year and choose the crafts/homemade gifts we are going to make and schedule them out.

Thansk for the chance to win.
