Lawn Fawn: Treat Yourself

Just a fun watercolored card today, using the Treat Yourself stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn.  This is a small mini set, which means its super affordable, not to mention cute.  Make sure you head on over to the Lawn Fawn Blog, for a chance to win this set also to see more great projects using these products.

I had an idea in my mind to watercolor part of the card front, as well as the images.  I love rainbow sherbet especially in the summertime, so I used that as a jump off for my color palette.  The card base is a nice watercolor paper.  To start I dipped a brush in water and got the bottom right of the card front a little wet, so the paint would spread easier.  When I watercolor i do lots of layers, and let the layers dry in between coats.  Once I was happy, i stamped the sentiment in a black pigment ink, then heat set the ink.  When watercoloring and stamping together, you need to use a permanent pigment ink not a water based ink.  Water based inks react to water, and will get runny and splotchy.  So to prevent that, stamp and then heat set the pigment ink.
The ice cream tub was adhered to the card front using foam squares, to give the card a little bit of dimension, it looked too flat not popped up.
