An AMAZING day

Image
This was a really surreal day, the kids were unbelievably lucky.  While we are in line to enter the park, we get word that the Jonas Brothers were going to be taping the Christmas special for ABC.  So we get to the castle and low and behold they are going to be there.  We wait for about 15 minutes and then, the Jo Bros come out for a sound check and then for reals for the tv & cameras.  This would have been the highlight of our trip, getting to watch them perform, I mean my kids seriously love the Jonas Brothers. About 2 hours later, we are in line to the Haunted Mansion and guess who is a few people ahead of us... Jeanette McCurdy, she is an actress on Nickelodeon called I-Carly.  The kids were star struck, but Jacob chatted with her a few times.  He stood next to her in the elevator and was telling her that he really liked her show & she was telling him about things coming up and the movie that was on tv.   At this point we all are on cloud 9 & can't believe how cool ...

Red Bull Air Races San Diego 2008

Image
So this weekend we went to the Red Bull air races {google it its cool} The air course was in the bay between Coronado Island and the SD Embarcadero. Since Jess is in the Navy we got to sit along the pier next to the USS Ronald Reagon { a newer Carrier} one word describes a carrier, massive! So if I looked to the left I saw the carrier and if I looked to my right I saw the air course and the planes. Beautiful view. Kendall and I got bored so we walked to the NEX to get snacks, but then we walk past the Vera Bradley purses and they had the new Seaside Collection. OMGoodness I was so happy, its new and very hard to find right now. So I bought the Port tote and the nautical wallet, I love them >" Is this not the coolest view or what, these prop planes go 240 knots or mph I don't know Jess is asleep. Well the planes go really really fast hahahahaha and then turn sideways to go through the pilons {SP} and there is a bunch of them. So the racers are timed, so whoever gets ...

funky chicken

Image
So here is a card I actually made the other night, but couldn't post it. I'm mailing it to one of my best friends Chris. She is having surgery tomorrow, so I hope this bright card will make her smile. I wanted to watercolor an animal, but I don't have too many animal stamps, so this neglected uninked chicken worked perfect. I stamped the image in black stazon ink, colored her in with prisma watercolor pencils & used a blending medium and stump to blend the colors together. This stamp is actually really big, but after I punched it out with a marvy scalloped circle punch {the really big one} it made it easier to work with. I layered it onto real read cardstock, which makes the yellow really pop. The polka dot paper is actually from a 12x12 Christmas paper stack that I got at Hobby Lobby or Joanns. After I cut it to size, I got out my SU corner rounder and took off the plastic protector, and stamped along one edge of the polka dot paper & it creates a scallope...

some picture from the last few days

Image
Here is the winging banner that I made to congratulate him with. A few of my neighbors stayed up pretty late, helping finish it. So thank you to the doyle st project banner people lol. This banner is made out of different types of materials, the hardest to work with was the gold lame. We had to cut it out to look like wings, then I wento over the wings with a sharpy to make all of the defining edges. At the top most people put "congratulations" its ok to go against the grain so I put "not to brag, BUT..." I thought that would be really fun and cute. This banner hangs in front of our house for a week or so. It turned out terrific!! Here is a picture of us from the left: John{dad} Karen,{stepmom}, Jess, Jacob, Kendall, Me. The winging ceremony just got over and so we took a picture in fron of a Helo. Here are a few pictures of the wining party. I had a lot of fun this night! Can you say LEMONDROPS....these were delicious >" Kendall and Jacob on Easter morning...

Weekend Pics of the Pinewood Derby

Image
Picture of Jacob and I Pinewood Derby winner 2008 Over the weekend my son Jacob got to compete in the Florida/Alabama Pensacola Bay Pinewood Derby Regional Championship {only the top 3 Tiger cubs in his den got to go} held at the Naval Aviation Museum. There was about 150 or so Tiger cubs with their cars ready to race {Tiger cubs go first since they are the youngest} For those of you who do not know what the Pinewood Derby is, first you get a piece of wood and wheels and you have to carve/paint/decorate the wood to make it into a car. Then is gets weighed {has to be under 5 ounces}, they then put this box thing over it to make sure its not too long. After all of this the races begin. Three at a time the cars go down the track, its double elimination, so if you get third twice you are out {this takes forever}. Jacob got first about 11 times and second 4 times. This put him in the finals. Here is a few pictures of his car starting the race & finishing in first place >" At th...

birthday card for Savannah

Image
I made this card for the sweetest little girl Savannah who just turned two. I don't get to see her very often (since we live in different states) but I wanted to send a card to let her know I was thinking of her (her mom anyway...don't think Savannah remembers me) Erica who is Savannah's mom, we have been friends since we were 14 years old...not to give my age away but its going on 18 years this year. My husband is in the military and we left California when my oldest was three years old. So it makes me sad sometimes knowing our kids can't grow up together and get to know each other better. Jess and I are really lucky to have great friends we have found during our travels. Most of them we consider family now. So even though we miss our family and friends in California, in each new town we meet people who welcome us in with open arms and it as though we have known each other forever. In case they are reading I have to thank three woman who have blessed me with t...

Kendall's notebook

Image
The other day when I made the altered composition book for myself, my daughter Kendall wanted one too, but I was out of the double sided red tape. I can't recall the brand I use but it comes in a red roll and its very very strong, its in the aisle with adhesives. Anyhow, so we went to Hobby Lobby and got some more of the tape and last night, Kendall finally made her notebook :) I let her go through all of my paper, and believe me I have more than anyone should. Well she picked out paper that is at least 5 years old, imagine that. Its designed by Susan Branch. Do you remember when her paper was popular? I don't even know if she has a line of paper anymore? After she picked out the paper and we stamped and distressed, it was just missing something. So into the craft room we go...some ribbon, brads & primas and this notebook was done :) I really enjoy when we craft together, its fun and she gets one on one time. Marlou if you are reading this, my daughter picked out the big ...

ARGH lol

OK, so you know how in the last post I wrote about how I couldn't get creative last night and so I altered myself a composition book. Well good thing the book is for me because I spelled thought wrong if you look down at the book i spelled it thougt...I left the H out. I am so mad at myself I can't stop laughing and I can't call Chris because she is probably sleeping...she is in another time zone. Note to self and all other stampers/crafters do not craft at night when you think you have mojo LOL because no one is awake to spell check for you HAHAHAHAHA.

I think I got my "mojo" back!

So I'm done traveling, my dad is back in CA, (he was here for about 11 days) my husband is back to work and the kids go back to school on Monday. It has been a very busy last few weeks. Not to mention I am battling with a minor Crohn's flare up. I keep telling myself I have been through worse than this, so things are going to be OK. Well I made a compostition book like this for my neice Wentir (sounds like winter) for Christmas, because she loves to write and draw. Plus my brother and her mom can never find anything with her name on it. So I guess the morning of Christmas she opened up her present from me (well the comp book) and she was so excited that she had her own book with her name on it. The whole time I was altering her book I kept thinking that I wanted it, and an 8 year old isn't going to care about some notebook. So I was happy to hear my hard work was appreciated. Back to this composition book lol. I am in a Papertrey ink swap and I have a ton of thank you card...

I'm Back

This last week or so have been nuts, between the kids activities, Jesse's work schedule being crazy, & turning 31 I have felt the urge to drink an adult beverage, I have refrained. Then to top everythink off, I flew to CA, from New Orleans ( I live in florida 3 1/2 hours away) on Tuesday, went to dinner with family, dropped off xmas presents (all in Sacramento) went back to the hotel went to sleep aroun 11pm because I was jabbing it up with my inlaws. Got to the Sacramento airport around 6am, find a Starbucks get my latte and then found a seat. Check in was a breeze! So I finally get into New Orleans, my family meets me there and my husband surprises me by saying we should go to Emerils. It was pure heaven, I will need to have a full day to blog to describe the food that I ate all that comes to my mind is AMAZING!! So we stay the night (wed) get up and just tool around waiting for my dad to arrive. His flight wasn't delayed so I was so thankful for that!! On our drive home ...

Going out of town

I am going out of town to be a chaparone for my daughter's school robotics team. They won 2nd in Octoboer in our region, so I guess its considered nationals for the competition this weekend. We leave on charter buses in the morning, and I will be back on Sunday. I have been trying to be crafty the last few days, so I have a few things to share when I get back. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Did I mention we are going to Auburn, Alabama? Well that's where we are going (I live in Florida, but born and raised in California), and its pretty "redneck" there from what I hear, so it should be very interesting to say the least. One positive thing is that I will get to eat some good food! Well I will talk to ya'll when I get back :)

Busy Week & Photo Editing

I have not posted in a week...holy moly! With all of the activities my children are in and my son getting sick, my time has just slipped away from me lately. I am going to do my PaperTrey swaps tomorrow, so I will be posting them soon. I was going to post some before and after pictures (before editing them and after) but something is wrong with blogger and I cannot upload any pictures....what a bummer. Well I hope you all had a great weekend. I guess I can go catch up on my tivo-ed shows :)
