Twill Quilt

Image
I made this card a while back but I must have forgotten to share it.  A few years ago, Chris had sent me some twill like fabric that has adhesive on one side.  So I stamped some quilt blocks from the new Quilters Sampler set from PTI and then colored them in.  I cut out the little mini quilt and I wanted it to look ruffled & cozy, so after much primping this is how it turned out.  I really like it.  I almost added ribbon, but I think that would have been too much, so I settled on a couple of buttons.  I am working on a card set to give to one of my Aunt's, she makes the most beautiful quilts {kind of helps that she owns a quilt/fabric store}.  I think this will be a perfect gift. Well I am off to N. CA {not close to you Alex, maybe next time >" "Twill Quilt" Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise & Vintage Cream Card stock, Twill fabric, copic markers, buttons,  Tim Holtz Black Soot ink, Quilters Sampler stamp set from PTI

Simple Cards

Image
I have a lot of mail to send out today, a few birthdays and I stamped of some images that I am sending to a few friends.  The first card is from yesterdays sketch challenge on SCS, I am really liking that sketch, I will have to file it away.  The bella was too long to fit on the white cardstock, so I stamped it on the cardstock and then stamped her again, colored her in, cut her out and then layered her over the ribbon.  The sentiment is from PTI, and to finish the card off I put three little pearls in a row.  The second card is going all the way to London, Nicola is always giving stuff away on her blog for doing her sketches.  I love her style.  So I am sending her a little something in the mail.  This card is a really simple design, I used my DIY monogramer I believe this is the Curlz set.  Instead of putting initials, I wrote "hi".  I used my nestabilities circle set to layer the circles, the textured cardstock is Bazzil, the white it PTI and the dp is from Cosmo Cricket. ...

Feeling better

Image
I am starting to feel a lot better, so today I am starting on some projects. We will be moving the end of March, beginning of April time frame, so everything needs to get done asap. Right now I am working on Mother's Day gifts. I bought some of the clear card boxes from PTI, and I am making different sentiment cards. So in each card box there will be around 10 cards for different occassions/sentiments. These will be for my mom, mother in law, cousins, aunts and other special woman in my life. Its very affordable since I have everything on hand. This is a "feel better" card, its a really easy sketch that I go back to a lot. Its simple and I don't use a ton of paper, because some people, do not appreciate paper the way I do lol. For the card base I use pti spring moss cardstock, layered with SU ginger blossom dp. The image I bought from Ellen Hutson's store, and is made by Lockhart. I used a blender pen and a ruby red & spring moss stamp pad to color in the ima...

Papertreyink Swap using Nicola's sketch #4

Image
I just posted & all of my info got deleted....so mad! Anyhow, I finally finished up my swaps. I used Nicola's sketch #4 for the layout {mypaperworld.blogspot.com} All of the images are from papertreyink...little lady, mixed messages & borders n corners. I liked the tent topper it made making a swap fun and different, than the traditional card. I was itching to use my new kraft cardstock {SU} it went really well with this color combination. Kraft is the new white LOL just kidding for some reason I thought that was really funny. Seriously kraft paper goes with anything. The ribbon is from my may arts stash. Sorry for the quick post but I'm off to the grocery store. I hope everyone had a nice day off >"

card made by my HUSBAND!

Image
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! This morning after the kids were off to school, I decided I to take a much needed nap. My husband came in & said "goodbye & to have a good day" When I woke up this card was taped to our tv. He went through my stuff, cut, taped & stamped this all my himself. He did leave his mess up pile, so I know he put a lot of effort into it. I don't care what it looks like, its the thought that matters most. My husband is a manly man, so it means even more that he tried to be creative for me. I get to spend money on Papertreyink stamps tonight for my present. Stamps last longer than flowers. Do you ever feel that after you tell your husband/boyfriend not to get you flowers you secretly wish they can read your mind & get them for you anyways? I kind of feel that way today, but I am soooo happy with the card he made & new stamps!! Have a fantastic Valentine's Day!

Thank You Card

Image
I finally made something worth showing last night. It was a struggle everytime I sat down to make a card. However I did end redeeming myself with this card. I'm not sure what the fold is called. I scored it at the top & punched a tab in the white cardstock to keep it secure. The cardbase is real red, layered with whisper white. I used my sale-a-bration stamp set So Many Scallops for the flower image {stamped in real red ink}. I put two ribbon slide holes in the flower to run the 5/8 in grosgrain ribbon {real red} through it. The thank so much sentiment is from Papertreyink, stamped with stazon black. The top red part look bare, so I added some polka dot sheer May Arts ribbon, to perk it up a little. Well this has to be a quick post I'm off to the Chevrolet dealership to get my Suburban tuned up. I will have to bring my new SU catalog to keep me occupied. Have a great day!

No mojo Sunday >"<

Image
Does anyone else feel like Valentines Day is really sneaking up on you? I can't believe its on Thursday, where has the first 10 days of this month gone?!? I really cannot produce anything that looks good today, not even a picture {sorry} Today I cleaned my house early in the day so I could make a few cards, I think the bleach wiped away my mojo lol. This is a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 in. card base {papertrey stampers select cardstock}. The designer paper is from BasicGrey's Two Scoops line. I think this is flowerbella? The image is watercolored by using prisma pencils. I used Martha Stewart's two way glue, and then sprinkled dazzling diamonds on it while it was still wet. To give it a faux stitched look, I paper pierced along the edges, then took my sakura black pen & connected the holes. The pink & gold ribbon is May Arts ribbon {that I bought forever ago}. The friends sentiment is by Papertrey ink. Maybe I will post later to redeem myself, I need to dig deep and pull my moj...

6x6 page for kendall's album

Image
Yay, I finished another page for Kendall's {secret} album, for her birthday later this month. I really can't believe she is almost twelve. I only have one daughter & one son, that is all my body would allow me to have. On top of having Crohn's Disease I had very difficult pregnancies {more with my son} I am very grateful and blessed to have 2 healthy wonderful children. In my head I know that is all I will ever have, but its very hard for my heart to accept. Making this album for Kendall is bringing back so many memories of her growing up. Its amazing what an amazing human I am raising, she really is the nicest, sweetest person I know. I think raising her has been the easy part, the hard part will be learning how to let her go and fly... I used Verve Visual's guest designer sketch for this layout. In the picture my daughter was wearing red and was on a red pillow case. Picking out the paper was easy, all I need to do was match it to the photo. I finally d...

Verve Visual #2 Gate Fold

Image
Here is my second card for the Verve Visual guest designer contest. This card I made it a gate fold card, its where the card opens in the center {like a gate} intead of the side or bottom. My friend Chris recently used the grass hopper {Papertreyink} on a swap she made, which inspired me to make this card. I knew I wanted to use BasicGrey's Two Scoops dp, it has a lot of greens in the line, so the grasshopper went perfect with the paper. I generation stamped the grasshopper, which made the card flow so much better. The peachy/groovy guava looking paper is by Bazzill & I have know idea what the "real" color name is. The images are from Papertrey Ink stamp sets Green Thumb and Borders & Corners. I am really happy with how this card turned out, it has clean lines...which probably is my favorite style of card to make. Materials used: Basic Grey Two Scoops designer paper, Whisper white cardstock {SU} Bazzil textured paper, Wild Wasabi stamp pad, Cameo Coral stam...

Notepad

Image
Do you ever go somewhere, or maybe you are in the shower, and someone calls and your husband answers the phone but he forgets to tell you until oh...4 hours later or you are getting into bed? My husband is famously known to forget to give me a message and then it is way too late at night to return the call. I havn't been feeling well & I got invited to go to the movies with a bunch of gals last night, but I knew I couldn't sit through a 2 hour movie so I had to say no. Also my husband already had plans to go out with a friend. While he was gone, I made this notepad to take messages. A while ago I went to Target and in the dollar bins were 4x6 were these notpads, they are like post-it notes but the Target brand. This pad was screaming to be altered. So I went and got a 12x12 piece of paper and cut a piece so it was 4 1/2in x 12in. I scored it at 6in & 6 1/4in. So it left the front about 3/4in short. I got my SU corner rounder and took off the black shield and punched al...

New toy and cards going to Beate

Image
So did anyone visit Flossie's blog a few weeks ago and she totally was an enabler LOL. She had posted a pictures of this and HSN was selling is earlier than in stores and was cheaper. Well I bought it hehe and it came in the mail yesterday. Its the new Crop-a-dile called the Big Bite. I have only played with it once so far, but it does some pretty impressive stuff. The next two cards are going to Beate she has the blog Fresh and Fun (we all know who she is lol) Her husband is deployed right now and she wants to fill a box with blank Valentine's Day Cards so the guys and gals can send a Valentine home. My husband is at a training command right now, but in the past when he was deployed the men appreciated stuff like this, so I am more than willing to send a few cards to her. Materials used: Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White & Pink cardstock by SU, Smitten Paisly Glitter paper by K & Company, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon & Purely Pomegranat...

thank you card

Image
I made this card for Sara, she has hosted 3 Papertrey swaps now on SCS, so I put this in with my swaps as a thank you note. The images are from the set Sweet Love by Papertrey ink. I used white cardstock as the base and layered it with Cosmo Cricket paper. I stamped the hearts in black stazon ink. The tab on the top was made by using a SU tab punch (I love that thing). The next layer is in white cardstock, stamped with Palette L'Amore Red and black stazon ink. I had some retired SU organdy ribbon, so I stamped that too and attached it with a staple. I just wanted to say thank you to her, hosting a swap I imagine can be very stressful at times. The size of this card is 4x4 which I don't normally make, but square cards are fun to do, to change it up a little :)

Swaps are done :)

Image
I meant to post this card on Friday...but my husband had to go out of town and he took my camera. That meant no uploading pics for me. Last week I was struggling with finding my creativity, everything that I made I did not like. I'm sure the cards were fine but they all lacked something that I couldn't figure out. So I went back to this simple sketch that I use when my mojo is not flowing :) For some reason the yellow on the boot is showing up really bright, but in real life its more subtle and blends well. I used the Green Thumb stamp set from Papertrey ink. This is one of my favorite sets by them. The yellow and blue paper are from SU , they are retired so I have no idea what the real color name is...? I stamped the sentiment in stazon black, and the boot is stamped in old olive & summer sun. The ribbon is from May Arts, when I bought the ribbon I only bought a few yards, so I have been hoarding it. However, it went well with the card, so that ribbon had to...

1 swap down one to go :)

Image
Hiphip hooray, a complete set of one of my swaps is done (shown above >" " The images are by papertreyink, because its a papertrey swap :) and the ribbon I am pretty sure is May Arts that I bought a few years ago.

Working on Swaps

Image
I have to get my papertreyink swaps done! I thought this was it until I realized there is no embellishment on the card. Each swap has to have at least two layers and an embellishment. Maybe I will add ribbon or brads. I used the new SU ginger blossom paper. The flowers are all stamped in Ruby Red, the flowers that are lighter in color are still in Ruby Red. I just did generation stamping, its when you keep stamping the same image without re inking . I distressed the edges of the whisper white and river rock paper with a ruby red stamp pad just to make the paper pop, sometimes it just makes a card flow better. The stems are stamped in mellow moss which is now a retired color from SU , but it looks a lot like river rock so I used it. All of the images are from the Green Thumb set from Papertreyink . I know its an older set, but I just bought it so its new to me, and I love it! Its has a great springtime feel to it, which I cannot wait for...I do not do well in cold weather,...

I think I got my "mojo" back!

Image
So I'm done traveling, my dad is back in CA, (he was here for about 11 days) my husband is back to work and the kids go back to school on Monday. It has been a very busy last few weeks. Not to mention I am battling with a minor Crohn's flare up. I keep telling myself I have been through worse than this, so things are going to be OK. Well I made a compostition book like this for my neice Wentir (sounds like winter) for Christmas, because she loves to write and draw. Plus my brother and her mom can never find anything with her name on it. So I guess the morning of Christmas she opened up her present from me (well the comp book) and she was so excited that she had her own book with her name on it. The whole time I was altering her book I kept thinking that I wanted it, and an 8 year old isn't going to care about some notebook. So I was happy to hear my hard work was appreciated. Back to this composition book lol. I am in a Papertrey ink swap and I have a ton of thank you card...

Cookie Swap

Image
So I am in this cookie swap and I have to make 11 dozen brownies...yes you read right 132 brownies. Well I went to all of the stores to get some containers to put them in, but they are not cheap. $4 dollars isn't much money, but when you times it by 11...thats $44, and most likely they will end up throwing the container away. I am extremely busy in my life right now, but I had some time to make these bags instead of buying containers. Inside of the bag will be a cellophane bag which the brownies will go into to keep them fresh. Have any of you been checking out Tim Holtz's blog lately? Well I have and he has inspired me to make a cute tag. Now this isn't the best tag I have ever made, but I do like it. And to be completely honest, I took some cold medicine and made this about 1/2 after I took it, I really should have stopped and went to bed, but I really wanted to finish it. When the brownies are cooling I am going to make recipe cards to go inside the bag as well. Once ...

Christmas card idea #1

Image
Holy moly did it take forever to upload this picture! First of all, my camera batteries are dead so I barely got this on my pc, then I was having problems with blogger...it took longer to get the card on here than it did to make it...and it took a while to make :) I know I havn't posted anything in a while, however my youngest has been sick and I havn't been feeling well (sidenote, I have Crohn's Disease) and I think I might be having a little flare up. Not that its the best excuse, but I havn't had any energy and my creativity was zapped out of me. Enough of that let's get to the card. So I havn't made my Christmas cards yet!!!! I know I am way behind but they will be completed by the end of the weekend to be mailed out on Monday. So I sat down and made this earlier today, I really wanted to use my Snowflake Serenade set by Papertrey, but it seemed a little plain alone, so I added the flourish from Baroque Motifs by SU. You can't really tell but there is d...

PaperTrey Ink Swap

Image
Here is my PaperTrey Ink swap on SCS. I decided to go with my Believe set, with the Holidays coming up. You could use any PaperTrey stamp set, so I am excited to see what everyone else comes up with. These babies are due Nov. 15th so I need to get them in the mail asap. FYI, I'm sure most of you know this, however the 15th of every month PTI announces new products :) I love all of their products! Happy Tuesday. I just took my son to his elementary school, now I'm off to drop my daughter off at her Middle School...today is going to be a Starbucks day, I can feel it >" Materials used: whisper white cardstock, designer paper from Provo Craft Holiday Slab V, bazzill red cardstock, stazon black ink, prismacolor pencils, ribbon from Micheal's, marvy scallop punches, 3 dimensional foam adhesive
