Merry Blooms

Image
Who is ready for some Christmas in July? There is a new kit from Taylored Expressions called Merry Blooms. It has stencils, red rubber stamps, clear stamps, dies and more! For this first card, I started by stamping the leaves onto lime zest cardstock using a Misti tool. There are a few ways to get vivid ink onto colored cardstock. You can either use oxide inks, or use a pigmented white ink, let it dry and then go over the white ink again with the ink color of your choice. For both techniques, using a Misti tool is necessary for perfect stamp placement. Once the leaves were stamped, the poinsettia stencil was used to ink blend the red flowers. Using the clear stamps and coordinating red ink, the stems of the flowers were stamped over the stenciled flowers. The sentiment was stamped in black ink, then to make the card pop, a white pen was used on some of the leaves. For this card I wanted to use the poinsettia flowers from the stencil to create a bold rainbow Christmas card. I would ...

Hello & Thinking of You

Image
Hello friends! Taylored Expressions is releasing new stencils and blender brushes today! The blender brushes are smaller, to fit into all the nooks and crannies of your stencils. Which is perfect for stencils where you use a multitude of colors.  Sometimes when creating a stenciled background, I want a muted color and not something as bold and bright as white cardstock. Once the card base and diecut "hello" were created using plum punch cardstock. The process of going through my TE cardstock to find a color that coordinated, started. From past cards, plum punch & peaches and cream go so well together and have been some of my personal favorites, it was an easy decision to make. The stencil was secured over the panel using purple tape. Then using a variety of ink colors and blender brushes, the gradient rainbow was created. Once finished inking a background, the "hello" diecut was adhered to the card using foam adhesive. The crystals were added for a final embell...

Then using the stencils and a blender brushes, inking the butterflies in the red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple order . I saw that one of the envelope seals matched perfectly, so I put some foam tape on the back, trimmed it a little bit and placed it on the card for my sentiment....

Hello Cutie Pie

Image
Hello friends! Just a few more days of March. I'm still in shock that we are almost 4 months into 2021. Today, I am showcasing the Happy Hex stamps/kit from Taylored Expressions . It was released a while back as a kit, and now that you can buy in bits and pieces. But honestly, you will want this kit in its entirely. My favorite is this background (there is a coordinating stencil too). I love how you can create a fun background, add a bold sentiment and be done.   I started by placing the red rubber background stamp into my MISTI, and securing the mini slim card base in place. To create the rainbow background, multiple ink colors were inked onto the stamp and then stamped onto the card base. Wiping and cleaning excess ink off between colors. The Hello and cutie pic sentiments were stamped in Oreo, and the hearts were stamped in coordinating rainbow inks as the background. This is a perfect card to mass produce! Here are a few older cards using this same set.

St. Paddy's Day

Image
Hello Friends! Here we are at another month. Can you believe it? Its February 2021! I am so ready for spring and warm weather. Here in Florida we have had cold, grey, rainy weather for months now. Not a typical warm winter at all. So, when I saw the Taylored Expressions releases for February, I was so excited!  Today's post is all about St Patrick's Day, green, shamrocks, luck and rainbows. All things that I love. Let's dig in to the details of this card. The background was created by ink blending 3 different green inks onto a green card base. By using different tones of the same color, it creates a nice depth to a simple card. The diecuts were layered with foam adhesive and twine was added to embellish.  What is St Patrick's Day without a rainbow? I knew I wanted to create a subtle rainbow on one of my cards. It took me a little bit of playing around with this stamp and stencil combo but I figured it out. I would use the stencil a little differently to get more sham...

Taylored Expressions October Christmas Release

Image
Hello friends! Today I am sharing with you my October Christmas Projects from Taylored Expressions!  There is just something so pretty about holly berries. For this card I stamped the Seasonal Sprig stamp onto watercolor paper, then using the coordinating die, die cut it out. The image was colored in using Karin ProBrush markers fo a soft watercolor effect. I put foam adhesive on the back of the front panel and set it aside. The card base is Early grey. The sprig was stamped again in black ink along with the sentiment and the front panel was adhered on top.  I am obsessed with rainbows, especially on cards. If 2020 has taught be anything its to lean in more to things that bring me joy. This card has a few different TE stamps and stencils but it all works together to create a rainbow snowflake scene. The Let It Snow layering trio stencils, are 3 different stencils. From left to right I used pink, reds, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple inks along with the blender...

Taylored Expressions Hey There

Image
Hello there friends! There is a new kit from Taylored Expressions and I have a few samples to share with you. In the kit there is a sun ray stencil with an opening that fits the "hey there" sentiment perfectly.  I started by stamping the "hey there" sentiment, coloring it in with copic markers and then ink blending around the sentiment using the stencil. Its not showing up in the photo, but there is glossy accents over the sentiment. To embellish I added a few pink enamel dots.  For this next card, I used the "hey there" stencil and die using several different ink onto toffee cardstock. Then layering it onto a white car base and adding coordinating cardstock stripes underneath.  For the last card, I took the "good vibes" sentiment from the kit and stamped it over and over again using different colored inks. This created a custom background as well as a sentiment. The diecut circle sentiment and stamped panel were adhered using foam adhesive...

Guest Designing Post for Picket Fence Studios

Image
Hello friends! I have a few cards to share with you today using Picket Fence Studios stamps . I cannot believe its July and that Halloween and Christmas are just right around the corner. When social distancing started, I should have just put up my Christmas tree. Christmas is my favorite and makes me ridiculously happy. My family might have thought I was crazy, but its 2020, there are no rules this year.  So, for this first card using the Most Wonderful Time of the Year stamp set , it was created using oxide inks. I typically do not gravitate towards those inks, but trying new techniques is always an adventure. Oxide inks to me are very bold and striking, and are perfect for layering stamps.  I know some people only gravitate towards traditional Christmas colors, however its fun to expand your holiday color palette. So for this next card that is exactly what I did.  To start, the background was created using a few shades of purple inks and the PFS Brocade stencil . Start...
