Christmas Card using October Mint Motif stamps

Image
Now that the holidays are fast approaching, it is time for me to get my Christmas card game on! You know what I mean? I am gong to be way ahead of the game this year! So for my card today I am mixing up the Beyond Borders stamp set and Very Merry Sentiments from Mint Motif.  You can never go wrong with a clean graphic design, white on white card stock and minimal embellishments.  This isn't too bulky, so I am pretty sure it will meet my one stamp requirement.  I put my fancier Christmas cards in with a present, so the USPS doesn't ruin it.   What I love is that, it would be pretty easy to mass produce these if I wanted.  If you all know me I don't really mass produce cards anymore, so mass producing to me is nothing more than 4 lol.   Well I better go, I have to wake up at O-dark-thirty in the morning, as my oldest has a Cross Country meet to be at, at 6:30 am!  Jeepers! Have a great weekend!! Materials Used: Mint Motif Very Merry Sentiments & ...

Mint Motif October sneak: Beyond Borders

Image
Happy Monday! Today I get to sneak a brand new set from Mint Motif called Beyond Borders, available on Oct 14th. What is so wonderful about this set, is that is is a background builder set.  It can be used on any project you can dream of, all year round.  I really enjoy stamping on my scrapbook pages, so I used one of the stamps from this set, to stamp a great background instead of using pattern paper.  Only stamps could have given me this look. I started out with a 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet of kraft card stock.  I then took out some Crackle paint, spread it on part of the card stock, and let it dry.  Once dry, I stamped my image with Palette ink , I did this three times to create a nice pattern.  I then adhered gems down, partly over the crackle paint and stamped pattern.  The gems were originally clear, but I took out a Copic marker, to coordinate & customize it with the ink.  I then adhered a picture of my daughter, that was the inspiration o...

Tuesday Trigger using Mint Motif

Image
I decided to play along with this weeks Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger ,  called a Funky Fall. The inspiration pieces always seem to get my mojo jump started! I was inspired by the colors the most in the above photo, especially the green. There are so many beautiful fall pattern papers out there to choose from, which would have been amazing to use.  However, I love the City Park line from American Crafts, and the sheet of pattern paper that I chose just worked perfectly.  I also needed to make a happy birthday card that I wanted to be non-seasonal.  The sheet of paper is actually embossed and has a really great texture to it.  After I adhered the pattern paper (floral and solid green strip), I grabbed my Mint Motif stamps.  The white label die cut was cut/embossed using the Spellbinders Labels Sixteen.  The sentiment is from the Very Square Sentiments stamp set, and the green pattern underneath the sentiment was created by using one of the square back gro...

For You

Happy Labor Day to my American friends. The first Labor day was observed Sept. 5, 1882, and became a federal holiday in 1894. To most Americans Labor Day means the end of summer, and the beginning of Football (NFL & college).  I am pretty sure a Nascar is raced on Labor Day as well.  Growing up, we always went to a parade, but I think most towns have forgone that tradition.   We had a low key weekend.  I went to a co-baby shower on Saturday.  Most of the wives (all our hubbies work together) got together to celebrate two babies on their way.  Our host made some amazing food and I brought cupcakes from a local cupcakery.  Yesterday, my children and I stayed in our pajamas, ate not so healthy food, cleaned the house and stayed up pretty late watching scary movies.  Today, we are still in our pajamas, I am doing laundry, still cleaning and will head to the grocery store later to pick up some groceries for the week.  Star Wars is on in the ba...

CPS sketch #182

Image
I have not played along with a sketch challenge in a while, so today I check out the sketch over at CPS . Clean, simple & perfect. I can do this. CPS sketch #182 This week was beyond crazy! My kids were/are sick. A friend was having labor pains, so I took her to the hospital, but she was just a little dehydrated & tired. Taxi mom, bringing kids to and from school & sports. Allergies...fun times. Trying to find a sectional that fits my living room...harder than it seems. So glad a new week is starting. So using a sketch makes it extremely easy to start a card, the hard part has been done for you.  For this card, I decided to use the School Basics set from Mint Motif.  The lined paper stamp, coordinated really well with the sheet of school paper from the Cosmo Cricket Togetherness Mini Deck.  The heart pattern paper is also from the same paper pack.  The black strip of paper is actually this cool paper called chalkstalk tile card stock, it is really cool....

Mint Motif August Sneak!

Image
Today I get to show a sneak of the newest release from Mint Motif called School Basics. (Mint Motif stamps are sold exclusively through iheartpapers ) This is such a wonderful set, and will fill a void in my stamp supply. My children start school next week, so I made this envelope and card to give to my son's future teacher.  I don't know if he has a male or female teacher, so this set had to be pretty simple, just in case his teacher is a dude.  I have these great manilla envelopes, and I knew I wanted to incorporate the envelope in my project somehow.  So I started to decorate and finish the envelope before I started on the card.  I stamped the elementary style lined paper stamp, a few times in Memento ink, then stamped the sentiment.  Each of the words is by itself, so you can be really creative with the sentiment you can create.  The apple stamp was colored in using Copic Markers (R14, R24, R29, YG13 & YG17).  To get the watermark look on the e...

2S4U sketch #58

Image
Do you ever just get into a creative funk, and nothing you make quite looks right? I was in one of those.  It could be that I am missing my husband, or that the 100+ heat we are having is draining me.  However, I decided to play along with this weeks sketch #58 by the lovely Kazan over at 2sketches4you .  Using a sketch can really get your mojo going, I highly suggest using them.  Plus over at 2s4u, they normally have a wonderful sponsor with great prizes.  Go check it out! I never ever, ever, have enough birthday cards.  So, if I have the chance I will always make extra to have in my stash.  I used some newer things on this card, the July release from Mint Motif called Cake Shoppe, some Togetherness pattern paper from Cosmo Cricket & the Spellbinders Labels 14, and those cute clothes pins from Hero Arts.  Using new things always helps my creativity.  After I stamped the image, I colored it in using Copic markers (R14, R24, R29, &35, ...

Tags made out of scraps

Image
The days and weeks leading up to CHA (Craft & Hobby Association), I was really busy working on projects for different booths.  What this left me was a huge mess, and a ton of scraps.  If it is a nice card stock or a pattern paper, I try to find a use for it.  I had a small scrap of kraft paper left, and if you love kraft card stock like I do, there is no way you are getting rid of it.  Looking at the scrap paper, I could tell it was just big enough to make a few tags, but too small to make a card, so I went with the tags. The paper was 4 1/4 x 8 inches, so all I needed to do was trim the tags to a length that I liked.  I went with 2 1/4 in width by 4 1/4 long.  Now this next part was just pure luck.  As I was trying to figure out what stamps to use (because I new I would use the MME So Sophie pattern paper), I grabbed my Cake Shoppe Too stamps from Mint Motif (sold through iheartpapers ).  I took a look at the bottom layer of the largest cak...

Super fast get out the door card hee!

Image
Do you ever have one of those moments where you realize you needed to send a card in the mail a few days ago?  Then realize it is a Saturday, and you have around 5 minutes to make a card, and haul butt to the Post Office?  That was me today.  I just hope this card arrives on time.  It is the thought that matters most right?  Sorry for the terrible picture, however when it is thundering, lightening, pouring rain & looks like 8pm instead of 2pm, it is a little hard to get an okay picture lol.  Let me tell you, there is nothing like getting your heart pumping, by trying to hurry and get a card done super fast style lol.  It really is cute in real life.  I seriously just used what was out, because I didn't have time to think too much.  The sentiment was stamped onto scrap water color paper, and the cute Sassafras feltie & burlap were sitting on my table from a package I just received from iheartpapers.  Before I forget, the sentiment...

Mint Motif sneak of Cake Shoppe

Image
Today the Mint Motif design team is showing sneaks from the new stamp set called Cake Shoppe. Mint Motif stamps are sold exclusively through i{heart}papers . This is a fun cake building set, with so many possibilities. I stamped the polka dotted cake layers onto October Afternoon designer paper. The frosting border was made my coloring it in with Copic markers. I mounted the cake using foam tape, to give it a little more depth. Back to Basics Thank You card

Image
One of my favorite places to send my cards is Operation Write Home . Cards are sent to deployed Armed Forces, then they are able to use the cards to send home.  One of the requirements, is that they are not bulky.  If you have some cards laying around, please think about sending them to Operation Write Home.  From personal experience, getting snail mail from my husband when he is gone, is the best feeling.   It is fun to use stamping techniques that I first learned.  For this card, I did some basic stamping techniques, like embossing with clear embossing powder, and creating my own pattern paper by stamping an image repeatedly.  I paper pierced around the edge of the sentiment, and didn't really like the way it looked, so I took some floss, and ran it through the holes for a simple stitch.  Adding the ruffled yellow ribbon, and tying a bow with the floss added a nice feminine touch.  The stamps are from Mint Motif, sold exclusively through i {hea...
