One layer card

Image
Did any of you play along with the Dare to Get Dirty challenges on SCS ?  I think the challenges are fantastic, some make you think and get out of the comfortable box we keep ourselves in.  It's fun to stretch yourself.  The card below, was a card I created for the 1 layer card challenge...  Yep, no extra layers of paper or card stock except for the card base (I kind of actually love one layer cards).   I embossed around the sentiment (Waltzingmouse Stamps) using a Spellbinders die template, and then I cut/embossed the bottom border of the card using some Spellbinders Edgeabilites.  To finish the card, I added Want2Scrap heart shaped rhinestones, oh and on some of the swirly parts of the sentiment. I really am happy with the way this card turned out, I am thinking about making a few more cards similar, then giving them away as a gift set.  One can never have too many thank you notes hanging around.

A fun card, and a heartfelt Thank You

I just love these images from Waltzingmouse Stamps ...so, so cute, the stamp set is called Half Pint Heroes.  I will let my son write a letter to my husband with this card, it just seems so perfect for that.   I stamped the image onto some Neenah card stock (really nice to use with Copics), then colored in the cute little submarine using Copic markers.  I trimmed the white card stock down to size, and then layered it onto a nice blue textured card stock from Bazill.  To soften the card up a bit, I rounded one of the bottom corners.  I thought it would be cute, to add a little bling in the water bubbles coming from behind the sub.  It is a little girly, but I like it.  Since I knew this card most likely would go to a man, I made a knot with the ribbon, instead of a bow. On a personal note, thank you all so very much for the outpouring of support you all have given me.  I was so amazed and in awe of all of the woman who contacted me, told me their ...

Sickie talk & a fun Christmas card

Image
I hope you have great plans for the weekend. As for me, I am knocked on my booty kind of sick.  Chills, fever, sore throat, congestion...get the idea?  I am not going to lie, I am a little freaked out.  Hubby is gone for a bit, I am sick and I have company coming next week.  I need to clean the house, finish/start my Christmas cards, finish Christmas shopping, put up the Christmas tree and complete all of my crafty deadlines.  Did I mention I am sick, and have to do this alone...bah, lol.  Isn't that the way it always is?  At least I still have my sense of humor and wits about me, or the amount of stuff I need to complete this week could really send me over the deep end.  Somehow, it will all get done, I don't know how yet, but it will.   The plan of the day, is to clean my craft-tastrophy I have going on, and to put the Christmas tree up, along with all of our holiday items.  Plus I need to have pictures developed from the last few days...

Sept Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz

Image
I am playing along with the September Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz today. This months theme is Halloween, how fun is that!  For my card, I used a few stamps from the Halloween Party stamp set.  I distressed the edges of ivory panel with some orange and black ink, before stamping.  To make those little hills, I cut some Cosmo Cricket pattern paper, and adhered it to the ivory panel, I then stamped the witch & brew pot images, in a nice black ink.  I didn't know what sentiment to add, so I didn't add one, but I may add one to the inside, once I figure out who I am sending the card to.  To finish the card off, I added some pretty satin ribbon to the panel & Kaiser Craft rhinestones to the corners. To see more Halloween projects, visit the WMS forum to see the list of blog hop participants!!

There is BIG NEWS over at the Spellbinders Blog ! They are releasing the Grand Calibur! Head on over to the blog, to learn more information & to see the Grand Nestabilities! Holy Moly is all I can say!!! Also be sure to scroll down on the Spellbinders blog to see all of the new summer releases, they are even showcasing one of my layouts!! Here is a card, using a new release called S4-297 Nested Crowns Shapabilities. I cut/embossed the crowns and then distressed them with a light pink ink.  I thought they looked regal by stacking them on top of each other with foam tape.  I added pearls to the top crown.  I love this cream and pink color combination, it is so soft and feminine.  The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse stamps . Card Style Mystery Blog Hop

Image
Welcome to the Card Style Mystery Blog Hop (do you have a copy? no? click here to get your own) It is a super sweet issue :) Do you know your card style? There is a short quiz at the beginning of this issue, that will help answer that question.  Not only that, but the issue is separated into four sections, Fun & Cute, Clean & Graphic, Classy & Elegant, and Shabby Chic & Vintage.  How fun is that?  Flipping through the pages you can really see each style is so distinctive.   My go to card style, is Classy and Elegant.  I love ribbon, but my most favorite kind to use is satin.  Putting satin ribbon on a card with a few pearls, for me, is perfection.  Adding an embellishment like ribbon to a card, helps me achieve a nice balance.  A great classy & elegant card is very well balanced, and will flow.  Meaning, your eye will automatically know where to look next.  On an unbalanced card, your eyes kind of go all over ...

Get Well Wishes

I like to know about new things from other people, so I thought I would tell you about a new stamp company that I just made a purchase from. Before we went to Orlando a few weeks ago, I bought a few stamps sets from Wplus9 .  They are a new to me stamp company, and I found it because a few of my favorite stampers are on the design team.  My stamps arrived super fast, so that was awesome.  One of the first things I noticed about the sets, is that they are really big sets, 6 x 8 inches.  So you really get your monies worth.  I bought the Woodgrain Silhouettes & Woodgrain Silhouettes additions.  They are a wonderful mix of stamps.  You get woodgrain patterns, woodgrain with botanicals, then a bunch of botanical & butterfly images.  Really fabulous stuff.  The stamps are made from photopolymer, so they stamp great and are made in the USA. I am not affiliated with this company, nor did I get anything for free or discounted, I just want to...

Waltzingmouse May Blog Waltz

Image
Hello there and happy Monday! It is raining, chance of thunderstorms, really a dreary day, however I am most excited for the rain.  My cup of tea will be extra tasty this morning.  Isn't it great how, a cup of coffee or tea can be so soothing, not to mention it will put a little pep in your step.   On to the card...today is the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz.  Anyone can participate.  The theme this month of May, is Birthdays.   For a complete list of participants click here .   Recently, I finally got my hands on some of the new October Afternoon lines of paper, and I have to say they really are beautiful.  The inspiration for this card came from the paper, and everything kind of just fell into place.  I love it when you don't have to fight with a card ( and that happens a lot lol ).  Isn't that tree gorgeous!?!  So beautiful!  The tree is from the Asian Gardens set, and the sentiment is from the Fancy Phrases set.  A...
