birthday card for Savannah
I made this card for the sweetest little girl Savannah who just turned two. I don't get to see her very often (since we live in different states) but I wanted to send a card to let her know I was thinking of her (her mom anyway...don't think Savannah remembers me) Erica who is Savannah's mom, we have been friends since we were 14 years old...not to give my age away but its going on 18 years this year. My husband is in the military and we left California when my oldest was three years old. So it makes me sad sometimes knowing our kids can't grow up together and get to know each other better.
Jess and I are really lucky to have great friends we have found during our travels. Most of them we consider family now. So even though we miss our family and friends in California, in each new town we meet people who welcome us in with open arms and it as though we have known each other forever.
In case they are reading I have to thank three woman who have blessed me with their friendship and are like sisters to me. Chris, Mellisa and Kelly have given me friendships I didn't know was possible. So thank you for everything. I know this is a blog about my crafts but every once in a while I just need to share a little about what makes me...me :) When you move around a lot it takes a while to form new friendships, so I what I always have is stamping and scrapbooking and now with a blog I get to meet wonderful people just like me from all around the world. So a big thank you to all of you blogging sistahs for giving me inspiration everyday!
OK...back to the card lol. I used white card stock for the base and layered cloud9 designer paper on top of that...little girls scream pink to me so this paper was perfect. I just bought some new wide May Arts ribbon yesterday, it was only 45 cents a yard, so in perfect hoarding status I bought 5 yards of it lol. I added a Prima Sprite and then punched out a scalloped circle and layered that on top of the flower. The three little bee's is a stamp from Stampendous, I stamped the image once on white card stock and then again on the designer paper. I cut out the bodies of the bee's from the cloud9 designer paper and then attached it to the white card stock. I believe this technique is called paper piecing (not piercing lol) I then colored the antennas and limbs with a pink spica glitter pen and then ticket punched the corners. I like to use black stazon or stampin up craft black stamp pads when I am coloring, I have found these two inks don't bleed or run. Sorry for the long post if you are still reading, have a great day, tomorrow is Friday!!!
Oh before I forget the images on the scalloped circle are from studio G, the $1 clear stamps at Michael's, you can't really see it in this picture but behind "best wishes" are candles I stamped in a light pink color.

I probably wasn't supposed to see this yet being as it hasn't come in the mail yet... but T, it's BEAUTIFUL! This most definitely is going in Savannah's scrapbook! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and your sweet words.
We love you and miss you...
