Have you seen the February kit of the month from Unity ?  Well take a look at this beauty of a stamp set. Is it not awesome or what?!  I love that there are some masculine stuff mixed in, and just take a look at that tree...sigh.  For more inspiration head on over to the Unity blog   and click on the designers names, lots of talent found there. Here is a card using the cute little birdie sitting on a flower stem.  I colored in the image with Copics, then attached the image to the back of this cute frame from GCD Studios designed by Melody Ross, isn't it cute (its from the Homespun Chic collection).  Using an impressability die from Spellbinders, I embossed the front of the card, then using a border punch, created a border at the bottom of the card.  After I tied the ribbon, I wanted to add a sentiment but couldn't find the right spot for it, so I just attached the sentiment to the ribbon with some twine.

The other night I picked up a bag of K & Company stuff (can't remember the line, its newer).  So today I was looking at it, and decided to open it up and give it a whirl.  The cool thing about all of the elements, is that on one side its glittery, and on the opposite side its not, so you get to choose the style, its nice to have choices.  The glittery pink/coral frame, I think was originally meant for scrapbooking and to put a picture inside of it, but I wanted to use it on a card.  The black and white looking paper, is actually clear paper with a black print on it (Anna Griffin), I guess its an overlay.  So I trimmed the overlay down and adhered it to the frame, then attached it to a card front.  Easy peasy peeps.  The butterflies were also in the kit, so I bent them in the center and attached them with foam tape. A few months ago, well more like October or so, AJ (the DT coordinator for Unity) contacted me, and asked if I would like to Guest Design for Unity.  It was a very easy yes!  My very first Unity stamp set was Butterfly Beauty (but mine had the dragonfly in it).  When the stamps arrived, and I saw the size of them and how well they stamped, I was an instant fan.  Sorry for all of the chit-chat, I am just very excited!!  The bottom line is....love Unity, the energy, the people, and the flair of the designs.  For those of you who are new to Unity, go to their blog and website to see what I'm talking about. Why I create... This post will probably be a little more talky than usual, so if you are here for the card, just scroll down a bit.  I also want to apologize in advance for possible run on sentences and bad grammar.  Its hard to write clearly when its coming from a personal place, for me that is.  So, here I go... Why do I create?  Lets go back in time a bit. I was very lucky to have a Mother who would sit and color with me for hours.  We didn't have a lot of money, so my Mom would make a lot of gifts.  One year she made the coolest fuzzy pillows for all of my cousins, along with myself and siblings.  Then when I got a little older she started to make jewelry, really beautiful jewelry.  Both my Mother and Father (whom are now divorced) are musicians, they both love to sing and my Dad has a love affair with playing the guitar.  Being creative was just engraved in me at a very young age.  I was able to take piano lessons and was also able ...

Hello there!  I made it home late last night, and didn't get to bed until almost 3am this morning. Needless to say, I'm tired, really tired.  Walking for six days straight will do that to you.  While I unpack, get organized and find some time to create, here is some blog candy I am going to give away.  There is a canvas bag, cute apron and a key chain all from Making Memories, that I picked up at the CHA show.  Do you think I should give it all to one person or three different people?  Just leave me a comment on your favorite new product you are excited about.  I will choose a winner on Monday!! With my hubby in the military, and having a lot of our friends in the service as well, I can never have too many "military" style cards hanging around.  I created the sentiment on my computer and printed it out onto kraft card stock.  I then stamped a text, using a Unity background stamp.  The flag banners, were stamped and then colored in using Sakura gel pens.  Very simple, but it can be sent in the mail with just one stamp (awesome!).  I'm flying home tomorrow night, so if I have not posted any pictures of CHA, its because I am having technical problems.  So I will have a long post on Thursday of the low down of my trip lol.
