Can you believe Christmas is in 85 days! I know, that was might thought too, what the heck! I have soooo much to do before then, and that starts with my Christmas cards. I really do not like mass producing, it steals my creativity and I get bored really easy after the first card. The most I will mass produce is maybe 4, so starting early is a good thing. This card uses some Eskimo Kisses paper and Just Rite stamps , you don't have to stamp their image stamps in a circle/oval, I like to stamp them without a border, then make my own sentiment using a font set. In this card I used the Brayton font set (I love love love it), and the Old Fashioned Christmas and borders set. I rounded the corners, to soften the card just a bit, added some buttons and I used a magenta ribbon and ink for the sentiment to make the card pop a bit. There is a new sketch and sponsor over at 2sketches4you . This weeks sponsor is Sakura of North America, they make the Glaze and Souffle pens. After I made my card following the sketch, I took out a dark blue Glaze pen, and made faux stitches along the border of my layers. I found a new stamp company (well new to me) that I really really like. Its Artistic Outpost , and their images are just so cool. Plus this set has a lot of masculine images (which I need). This truck image and sentiment, really speak to me, and it really reminds me of home. Maybe its because I'm from a really really small town in CA, and there are back country roads everywhere. I learned to drive on a country road when I was 9 or 10, once your feet can touch the pedals, you get to learn how to drive in my family. I can see myself using this stamp set a lot once my hubby leaves on deployment, it really has a nostalgic feel to it. I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. My son is not feeling well again, he picked whatever it is at school. Gotta love people who send their kids to school sick (enter sarcastic voice), my son is just one of those kids who pick up everything. Anyhow, today I'm off to a cooking class with a few friends. This week for the Flourishes Friday, the ever talented Leslie, has challenged us to use one stamp set and make two cards with different looks. For my first card, I made a winter time Thank You card. Then for my second card, I made a clean and simple fall card. The easiest way for the stamps to look different was by coloring in the buds and bows different colors. Next, was to choose patterned paper that put me in the mood for that season. When I think of fall, I instantly imagine the color orange, so I picked out some Indian Summer designer paper, and orange stitched grosgrain ribbon. For the winter thanks card, I didn't want Christmas colors with are green and red, so I went with a softer color palette using creams, light blue-green and red tones. Since the fall card was so clean, I wanted to dirty up the thanks card, by just distressing the edges of the paper with ink. I actually played along in a challenge over on SCS, it has been a long time, but I had time to whip up a card after I took the kids to school yesterday (Tues). The challenge was a color challenge, and it was using the new SU! in colors, I don't have them, so I used some Basic Grey Indian Summer dp, that were in the same color scheme. The image is from the Autumn Blessing set from Papertrey Ink. The flowers and vase were colored in using Copic markers. "thanks" Wow, I am still getting used to summer being over and lazy days. School is in full force in this house, my daughter is on her school's academic team and has practice 3 days a week, then also is in chorus. My son is participating in the run/walk club at his elementary school on Wednesdays (after school) and is doing Cub Scouts. We have already went to a birthday party on Sunday, and both my kid's schools had their book fairs, just looking at the calendar makes me dizzy with everyone's schedules. Wi...

I just got some Spellbinder Impressability dies, and I have to say I really like them alot! First, I embossed my paper with my impressability, then I took my labels die to cut and emboss it, into that shape. The patterned paper is from Making Memories, the design in the paper is so swirly and pretty. This is a very clean card with lots of white space, and not too many layers. I start to feel lost and overwhelmed when I keep adding more and more stuff. In this case, less is more. This card could be to welcome a new baby, congratulate a new couple/marriage, a sleek birthday card or a get well card. I love adding all occasion cards to my bin. I have little bins where I store my cards, some are by my front door and in my dining room, looking at my cards makes me happy. Do you do that? I love sending cards and giving them away as well, but looking at them brings a smile to my face.
