Paper Crafts HC&M vol 5 Blog Hop: 12 Designers of Christmas
Welcome to the 12 Designers of Christmas blog hop, brought to you from the fine folks at Paper Crafts Magazine.
This week Paper Crafts is celebrating the special issue, Holiday Cards & More vol 5, that just hit news stands. This is the magazine issue that will get your creative juices started into creating some fabulous Christmas items, like cards, bags, tags, home decor and more! What a better way to end this kick off week, than a blog hop with 12 never been seen before holiday projects. Did any of you get the Go to Sketches special issue? Well, you know how beautiful that issue what photographed? That is exactly how HC&M vol 5 was photographed as well. So each project really shines as you flip through this issue. There really is something for everyone. Cards, got them. Bags, oh yes! Gift ideas, so clever! Tags, yep got those too! Home decor, yep! In one word this issue is awesome-sauce, it is my word for something beyond awesome. Awesome with sauce on it, like chocolate sauce. How can something awesome with chocolate sauce all over it be bad? It can't.
Do you have your copy yet?
(click on the cover, it will bring you to a site to purchase one)
Do you see that card in the right bottom hand corner?
That is MY card on the COVER!!!
Beyond elated is the way to describe the feeling.
Each designer was given a template, to create a never been seen before project. I was given a template to make a box. The box template I am recreating, is the Pink Holiday box (pg.88) by Leslie Webster. To see that template head on over to the Paper Crafts Connection blog, they are sharing all three templates the designers are using today, with their readers. Scroll down below for the materials I used on my projects.
Make sure to go to each of the 12 designers blogs as well as the Paper Crafts Connection and Moxie Fab World blogs, and leave a comment. Each blog has a give away! So that is 14 chances to win!
Thanks to the handy dandy template I was given to use, this box was easy peasy to create. Once my bottom & top part of the box were put together, it was time to fancy it up a bit. I cut/embossed pretty glitter pattern paper from MME, using a Spellbinders Classic Lace Border Grand Borderabilities, and then glued it along the edge of the box (the top box). I then adhered the same pattern paper to the top of the box. To hide the crease, and because I love ribbon, I glued satin ribbon around the box. Next, I stamped a music note label stamp (from GinaK) with memento ink onto kraft paper. So after I stamped the image, I cut/embossed it with the Labels Sixteen, which coordinates perfectly with the stamp. Is that not fabulous or what?! Fabulous!! Next, I distressed the edges a bit, then adhered the label to the top of the box using foam tape. I have been holding on to this most beautiful package of Prima glittered holly pieces, so I took two of them, tied them together with satin ribbon, and adhered them to the label. I realized I needed to add a sentiment, so I stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment (GinaK), then cut/embossed it using a Spellbinders Fancy Tags die template, distressed it a bit, added a few pearls & adhered it to the label using foam tape. You cannot give away an empty box, so I also created some coordinating tags to go inside. I hope you are enjoying this fun blog hop! Don't forget to leave a comment to win.
Now I get to give away a copy of Holiday Cards & More Vol. 5.

My favorite Christmas tradition is simply gathering of family, especially those we don't get to see near often enough.

Love your box 'o tags!!!!!
fav tradition...I gotta say that I love filling the kids' stockings more than buying their 'main' gift...
A family tradition that I enjoy is making lefse and krumkake with my husband. I love learning his family's heritage and their traditions.
My favourite Christmas tradition is the kids getting snacks ready for Santa and his reindeer. They put so much thought into what Santa might like and always go searching for jumbo sized carrots for the reindeer. It's wonderful to see the kids excited faces on Christmas Eve!

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas as a family while blaring favorite Christmas tunes (normally the Mariah Carey Christmas CD) :)
We would play the candy cane game. The person who found the most candy canes could open any present they wanted on Christmas Eve.
Favorite Christmas tradition would have to be family dinner out on Christmas Eve. It's a time to be together and enjoy the feeling of magic in the night!
One of my favorite traditions is driving around Christmas Eve and looking at lights with my family!!!
My favorite holiday tradition starts with Halloween and ends with New Years.....the baking of lots of goodies, decorating the house, putting up the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving, making cards, sewing table runners, making gift tags, taking the older kids shopping on black Friday, celebrating with family and friends......I just love this time of year! And I am quite behind putting up all the "scary" stuff!

My favorite holiday tradition is looking at lights. I remember doing that as a child - good memories! Our favorite place to go is this house that turns their entire front yard into a walking light tour, full of wooden cut-outs and more. Unfortunately the couple is too old to do it anymore; this will be the first year it's not open.
One of my favorite Christmas Traditions is having Christmas Breakfast at my Dad & Stepmother's home with my family. My family enjoys breakfast food and this meal will sustain us all day long LOL!!
It's a great time to be with my dad.
