Card Season

Is it me or does it seem like once school/fall begins there is always a birthday, anniversary, baby being born and not to mention all of the holidays...to make cards for. I got a little lazy over the summer not creating as much. Thank goodness for the swaps I was in to get my creative juices flowing. I've made three cards today so far and I still have a few more to make, all of them except one are all going snail mail. A little boy named Noah, he lives down the street from us, he turns 9 tomorrow. I made a birthday card for him. Now that Jacob is getting older, I am finding that it is getting more difficult to make masculine cards. Thats something I need to work on.

Noah's card was really simple to make. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the green paper, I found some birthday designer paper that had green in it. Then I cut the corners of the white cardstock with my scallop corner cutter thingy. Stamped happy birthday and his name, added some ribbon and wala I was done.

So the other day I was at my local scrapbook store, and they have this area where people can put their scrapbook stuff on consignment. One lady was selling 7 really cool Japanese style stamps (hero arts) for 75 cents! I couldn't believe it. I also scored three SU snowflake stamps for 50 cents, and three flourish stamps for 75 cents. It was a great deal. The store is mostly taylored for scrapbookers not stampers, but they are starting to get in ribbon that you can buy by the yard. So I scooped up some May Arts ribbon, they have a new satin ribbon that has two different colors on each side.

In this card you can see a few of the Japanese stamps that I scored. I am really loving the MME bohemia line of paper right now, most of it is double sided. On this paper one side is the printed floral green and the other side is blue. I have no idea what the Japanese words say...it might even be Chinese, who knows...and it could be upside down too lol! I hope it means/says something nice...good thing this card isn't going to someone who is Asian.

The third card I made today I got to use the May Arts ribbon I was talking about. I also used MME bohemia double sided paper again, but in a different print. The Happy Anniversary stamp I actually found in the $1 bin at Micheal's a few years ago and then the heart stamp is a stamp by Judith. I used my fastenater, (it looks like a stapler but the staples are bigger and are decorative) to staple some ribbon onto the white card stock.
